Just next week, a friend of mine is having a 16 man Halo LAN. I was just wondering, does anyone know any good tips/strategies to use?
Don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to Halo deathmatch, but this is probably those once in a year things where I have a chance to really stand out from the crowd.
I've seen those GTC videos, basic and [advanced] essentials, but do you have anything else to add on?

lol

Hide, but not obvious and don't camp. Camping is good, but you'll get flamed by your friends lol.

Like on bloodgulch, hide where the pistol+3 plasmas spawn. Get a sniper and go there. Overlooking the blue base, it's perfect! And you can just walk back a tiny bit and bam, your hidden :-)

But yeah, it's all really common sence, just play a few games on XBC/XBL to practise your aim, thats all I can really say.

If you invite me to your group you will be blocked.

Who cares what your friends say?
If camping works for you then camp.

Don't let things like pride get in the way of sneaking behind someone so you have the advantage!

Win by any means possible no matter what anyone says. If they get mad and hate you for it, all the better, that way they make more mistakes.

Ehh. Camping is a legitimate strategy, but I don't want to be a hypocrate. Plus the fact that almost everyone knows Blood Gulch inside and out. Before I take out more than two people, I'd already be targetted, or taken out from behind.

Ah, yes. Annoyance works especially well, to the people who are quite enthusiastic about playing Halo the right way.

Just use pistol and a sniper rifle, you should be invincible then. Unless you suck at sniper rife. In that case, use a shotgun

well, id say go as a strike team, not lone wolves if it is ctf, and use warthogs

Get your Xbox buddies real pissed by exploiting glitches they don't know about. For example, the double melee, or the pocket/back pack reload.

If you don't know what a double melee is, it's when you melee somebody, hit the left trigger, immediately followed by another melee. Basically what it does is it makes you do two quick melees in a row, while throwing a grenade at the same time. If your enemy is partially damaged or if you melee while running/jumping, it will be enough to kill that person. The only draw back is that you must be careful for collateral damage as that grenade can bounce off a nearby wall or hit the ground nearby and not only hurt your target, but yourself as well. This will really get your friends mad at you, they'll be begging you to tell them how to do it, and scream at you for cheating.

The pocket reload is when you hit reload twice, followed by switching to your other weapon. Then, after a few seconds, switch back to your other weapon and it's full of ammo!

Think of it like this- let's say you're having a bad day with the sniper rifle and you end up firing four bullets without any of them hitting a target. You hit reload twice and switch to your pistol, and after you empty the pistol's clip, hit reload twice and switch back to your sniper rifle. Your sniper rifle's clip is filled with ammo as if you reloaded it, and you can continue firing.

That's all I know off the top of my head.

If you try to use the double-melee, don't just push BLB as quickly as you can, that won't work. There is a delay between when you push the B button and when your melee hits. Wait for the first melee to hit, then hit LB.

Yup. Yeah, like I said, the double melee and pocket reloading was covered in the GTC videos. Thanks, anyway.
A friend who went to the LAN liked it so much, he's going to have one this weekend. So, more Halo. Woo.
