Well, we all know the in-game music for multiplayer sux, so what, if any, music player do you use, and why is it better than others?

foobar2000.

itunes has a nice interface, but version 7 takes way too much system resources and seems particularly unstable.

foobar2000 generally looks like crap from the get go, and it takes a lot of configuring to get it to look the way you want, but once you get past the learning curve, its the most customizable player out there, and runs nice and quiet in the background.

it also plays every format known to man.

Windows media player only because I've gotten so used to it over the years, and it works well with my keyboard controls. ATM I'm listening to Danzig, Slayer, and Marilyn Manson.

I use Windows Media Player, it's simple, basic, and easy to use. But I don't use it in-game, because I fear it will cause my games to go haywire with framerates (hell, if Game Cam can lower my framerate, WMP definitely will). Until I get an extra 256MB RAM stick, I turn off all background programs with the exception of my firewall and anti-virus software. I hardly use Xfire in-game as well.

I do not listen to music when playing multiplayer, because it distracts you slightly from the game.

In sngle player I just listen to the in-game music because it goes very well with the game.

Yes, multiplayer music can be distracting, thats why I never listen to music with words, I just play Ode to Joy while blowing -blam!- up.

Exactly. I love when "news" whine about how I knew their position when they are reloading their weapons and I can hear them from a mile away. I love to turn the volume up high so that each pistol shot sounds like a real shot, unless I'm on TS, other than that, my volume is usually high.

Lol yeah. I have surround sound plus a sub-woofer so it sounds pretty good when I turn it up. The surround sound also makes it so I can hear exactly where they are so I just pop up over a hill and cap em. "J00 HAXX0R!@#$!@"

Sort of off-topic:

Wouldn't it be great if in Halo 2 there was a built in music player? Just specify a floder to take music from in the Options menu, then use some simple hotkeys to change songs. I get so tired of having to Alt + Tab every time a song comes on I don't like, then un-minimizing back in to find someone humping my corpse.

On topic:

Winamp + The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Ben Folds, The Killers, and lots of The Strokes.

Is foobar2000 downloadable? If so, link me.
I listen to various internet radio techno stations. Just a techno geek, I s'pose.
-EDIT- Oh, just for anyone who might not know, foobar is a military term. It stands for -blam!-ed up beyond any repair. FUBAR.
-EDIT 2- damn cuss blocker.

Most of the time I don't play with music, as I like to hear the footsteps of my enemies and their pistols going click when their pistol is dry. But sometimes I listen to all sorts of music. Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Three Doors Down, and the like, with Windows Media Player playing in the background.

I turn the stereo on and either listen to the radio or the custom tunes I put on some of my CD's, but even then I don't really listen to it, altough when I hear a particular song it reminds me of a particular game sometimes, kinda strange.

I use wmp, because it's the biggest RAM eater out there, and I don't like my computer slacking off while I'm playing. I listen to modern orchestral tracks :)

Winamp.

Though usually quiet stuff, so I can hear explosions over it and don't deafen myself. Sometimes nice to hear the ride of the valkyries on Assault mode.

Classical FTW!
