Is it possible to use a 360 controller for Halo PC, and if so, how would I install it and what settings would I use?

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

I don't know about the 360 controllers (seeing as I don't have one) but I do know you can take an xbox one and make it work for the PC.

First you need:
* Xbox Controller
* Scissors/ Wire Cutter
* Electrical Tape
* USB adapter

First, take the xbox controller and cut the cord off right after the plug that goes into the xbox. Then unravel the black rubber and silver foil around the smaller wires inside. Now cut off the male end of the USB adapter and do the same thing. You will notice the xbox has the same color wires inside the cable as the USB. Simply match each one up with the right color and tape them together. The xbox one has one extra wire which you can ignore. Then plug the xbox controller into a USB port on your PC and play. There might be drivers you need though, I don't know try a google search.

You're finished!

BTW You will be pwned by anyone using a Keyboard/Mouse because they are so much more precise.

The 360 wired controller is USB so there's no need to cut anything.

Oh, well like I said, I don't have a 360. So if you have a 360 controller, apparantly you can plug it right in.

Make sure to download a driver (search for it, ffs) and install it BEFORE you plug it in.

Have the action button set to "X", and the reload button something you won't use (like a d-pad direction). Reload will be set to the action button for some reason, allowing you to play just like the xbox controller.

PS-The controller has no aim-assist like the console. The analog sticks also don't have a pressure-oriented use, when you tip the analog foward, you will run, not walk. I suggets using a keyboard/mouse, or you will die.

Apparently, the 360 controller works, but it's sensitivity is terrible.

However!

Halo 2 Vista will support the 360 controller from the get-go. ;)

You can fix the 360's sensivity by going to --> Settings --> Control settings --> 360 Controller ( For windows ) Advanced, and pick your sensitivity!

Well, I want to use the 360 controller because I am horrible with the keyboard and mouse.
When I am installing the controller, what do I pick? It has like 2 axis 2 button, or 6 button gamepad. I've never done this before, so I need to know how to set this up. Do I even need those?

And does a wireless controller work with a play and charge kit?

Only the wired version works on Windows XP based PCs. Be sure to download and install the drivers for the controller online first before plugging it in.

Fatso is absolutely right. The controller sucks. A mouse and keyboard is alot better. Practice with it and using it will become a second nature.
