Everybody is talking about Halo Killers. Well, you know your system sucks when it's been two years since a games release and you are still trying to beat it. Another thing, all people who own PS2 and not Xbox will say that PS2 graphics are better. Well, Halo 2 will be infinitely better, and games that come out for all systems look pretty much exactly the same. GTA is a pretty good game, but Xbox has it now, and the graphics for it aren't that amazing anyway. Xbox can also handle like 500 times the information that PS2 can, because it has it's own freaking hard drive. I do not own a PS2, but my friend does and I see the craptastical games that he plays on it pretty often. Oh, BTW, PS2 has Final Fantasy, which I think is more against PS2 than anything.

KillZone is such a retarded game! They based the entire game around the ability to hide behind things. The game isn't even realistic as far as weaponry goes and how soldiers would act.

It is highly unlikely that KillZone will be a Halo-killer - in fact, I think that's impossible seeing as how you can't have huge firefights and good graphics at the same time on a console with such weak hardware. One thing that's kind of disturbing here is all the people who think Xbox is better than PC. The only thing better about Xbox is the price; the PC wins in every other category (except maybe ease of use, but it takes a retard with AOL to mess up a computer). So whoever said that you hope they don't make Halo 2 for PC, shame on you. Halo was originally a PC game anyways (and would've had online multiplayer if it was on there). This time they might hand the port over to a developer that will actually take time to improve the graphics for a more powerful system. Anyone who doesn't believe that the PC owns all, take a look at the new Unreal 3 tech demo on Fileplanet.

Oh, and Halo was not a Half-Life killer. Half-Life is kept alive by its mods. My favorite multiplayer games are HL mods - Natural-Selection and The Specialists, with Halo coming in 3rd.

People who played it at the E3 2004, said it was a disappointment. The sp was good, quoted to be better than CAll of Duty, but the multiplayer was horrible.

Killzone guns do look really cool though. As a concept artist, I have to say they look better than halo human guns.

For a game trying to have realistic weapons, KillZone fails miserably. Looks like a rusty FAMAS made out of sheet metal, that assault rifle does... The MG3 is like some kind of future lasergun with a way oversized muzzleflash. You really can't see a muzzleflash in daylight.

I think it's funny that Bungie is really nice to all of these other game companies, (Sony, for one) and then all they do in return is say that their game will be better. Sheesh.

If your good, you dont need to trash talk. You let your game do the talkin'.

OK, let's get this straight. The difference between a PS2 and an Xbox is the types of gamers they cater to. For the most part, being a Japanese console, PS2 has plenty of Japanese-style games (those sonuvabichs LOVE their RPGs). Though not an RPG, take MGS2 for an example. I thought Metal Gear Solid 2 was okay, but the more I played it, I hated it. And what's with Rockstar? GTA might have been fun, but Manhunt was freakin' disgusting. PS2 fanboys can screw their consoles for all I care, but dammit I LOVE shootin' the @&%$ out of Covenant, so there. To each his own.

While I admitedly do not own a PS2, I went into the Halo 2 vs Killzone discussion with open eyes. Having seen footage from both (as most of us have), at this point, Killzone has nothing over Halo 2 - in my opinion. That's not to say it doesn't look like a great game, as it even sparked my interest. But based on what I've seen from both, the chances of Killzone surpassing Halo 2 in any aspect, are quite minimal.

The fact that Bungie is always proper, respectful and genuine with 'rival' companies only cements their level of class. Also, Bungie's not responding to, what are essentially threats, seems to me to be a sign of confidence.

Lastly, Microsoft has a huge, huge amount of resources invested in Bungie. Halo 2 will arguably make-or-break the Xbox. I don't think a group of people so devoted to creating the best game (ever?), backed by someone like Microsoft, could slip up; especially not at this point.

Halo 2 vs Killzone? Please...

Have you seen the KillZone E3 video? I don't really see how it is compared to Halo. It's almost like comparing Grand Theft Auto to Halo. If a game involves a gun, it shouldn't be involved with the best game involving combat. KillZone should be compared to Ghost Recon, Not Halo. Besides, Ghost Recon still looks better than KillZone does now.

What is a "Killzone"?

From what I know, a "killzone" is a military term used to describe an area that is about to be, or was, wiped out, and an area that is gonna involve a lot of fighting

Could be wrong though...

Killzone actually looks kind of cool. If they made an XBox port I might play it.

Honestly, though, it's not possible to beat Halo CE (much less H2) on the PS2 hardware. The closest Killzone can come to being a Halo killer is to deflate a little bit of PS2 owners' Halo lust. PS2 can't afford to have too many PS2 owners also buying an XBox, b/c given the XBox's raw power, if you have both, why would you ever buy a multiconsole game on anything but the XBox (or PC for some shooters)?

I'm not an XBox fanboy, tho might be considered a PS2 hater -- I just can't get past those washed out graphics and other limitations. I envy only a few of their games with only Silent Hill 3 really tempting me to rent a system before I finally bought it for PC.

I am an XBox fan, not extreme...yet. I am a hardcore PS2 fan, and its sickining to see a grip of Halo fanboys saying KillZone is just a fricken copycat and whatever, but they should look into what they're sayin. Red Faction is the first Futuristic game I've played and had all the basic stuff Halo did, and the stuff Halo fanboys want in H2 is in RedFaction 2 (Mech, dual weilding). Maybe RedFaction wasn't the first Futuristic FPS out there but so wasn't Halo so don't go around sayin KillZone in't original.

P.S. Why even compare KillZone and Halo? They are of 2 diffrent tones, where as KillZone will be darker and more serious and Halo is well cartoony (covies). Comparing Killzone and Halo is like comparing GTA and The Getaway.

I boutgh an Xbox a year ago solely for Halo. The only other things I use it for are soundtracks, Metal Arms, Splinter Cell 1 and MGS2 Substance. I would buy a PS2 for Front Mission, FF and the other good RPGs/Strategy-RPGs, if I had the money. PS2 is cool, just not a good console for shooters, what with the whole Xbox having more sheer power thing. Xbox is essentially a pc, PS2 is a system for the games that don't work well on xbox. yep, just my three cents.

@ terran grunt:

sure unreal 3 looks great, but have you even thought 'bout the PC specs you need to run it?!
PC will never be my gaming-platform of choice seeing as you need to keep investing in it just to be able to play new games. Srry dude but I just don't have the cash for that.

on the topic:

To be honest Killzone looks pretty cool, but that doesn't mean I'll think it will outrule H2 (or 1)
imo. I'm not saying this because it will suck in comparison to halo, but just because it doesn't look like my cup o' tea. I think it's sad that the game is being rated in relation to Halo, that's not fair for the game. Rate it for it's own qualities. I mean, every game at this moment is inspired by it's predecessors in some ways. Originality, these days (like it or not), comes to play in the way you execute and fine tune an old concept.

P.S.: I don't own A PS2 (yet..) because the games they release for that console on this side of the pond are mostly mainstream titles that suck imho. If I ever do buy a PS2 it will be an american one 'cause then I'll be able to play ALL those Japanese-style RPG and not just FF CCC (=roman numerals (except for the FF) ). Btw, I also have a cube but don't use it that often.

Killzone is a wannabe halo game. They don't even have any videos yet and the PS2 wont be very good for the game.

They have videos out, don't talk out your ass. The game looks alright, but graphically isn't as good as Halo, let alone Halo 2.

El Nacho, you question why one might compare Killzone to Halo, but more importantly, who would compare Red Faction to Halo? While technically in the same genre, Red Faction doesn't even come close to touching Halo in any aspect. Additionally, in response to your 'why compare Killzone and Halo?' I think you should redirect your question to a PS2 forum, where the comparison was conceived.

Presumably, you're looking for some kind of argument; as you easily overlooked my (and many others) nonbiased observations. And to say that Halo is "cartoony"? Why, because it has more than three colors in it's palette? Sorry to break it to you, but just because a game is literally dark and drab in color does not mean the story and game itself will be "dark" as well. Lastly, I think by "serious" you meant overly dramatic. You and Killzone can get over yourselves.

half life 2 and halo 2 are both going to be really really really really great games! there is no need in getting into an argument over it though. And who cares if some people think halo or halo 2 sucks, its their loss. I can't wait untill halo 2 and half life 2 and doom 3 come out, they should all be good games but i honestly think i will find halo 2 the funner of the three because i wouldn't still be addicted to halo if it wasn't a great game. and i'm not even a gamer. i'm a halo gamer. the only game i own is halo. and now i find my self owning all three books and reading every little morsil or info that comes out for it religiously. If the half life games and doom games were anything like halo i would be as interested in it as i am with halo, but i'm not. and i don't know why. there is jsut somthing about halo that is very appealing and just doesn't get old!

[EDIT] killswitch has nothing on anything!!!!!!!!!

It's sickining to see a grip of Halo fanboys saying KillZone is just a fricken copycat
(Well it is).
and whatever, but they should look into what they're sayin.
(We have. if you read up most people have seen both E3 videos).
Red Faction is the first Futuristic game I've played and had all the basic stuff Halo did,
(Yes but it was crap)
and the stuff Halo fanboys want in H2 is in RedFaction 2 (Mech, dual weilding).
(Yes but RF2 was crap.)
Maybe RedFaction wasn't the first Futuristic FPS out there but so wasn't Halo so don't go around sayin KillZone in't original.
(But it isn't.)

P.S. Why even compare KillZone and Halo?
(because it's a "halo killer", and I use the term more loosely than a greasy weasel.)

They are of 2 diffrent tones, where as KillZone will be darker and more serious and Halo is well cartoony (covies).
(Possibly. Although the fact that the covenant attack Earth isn't a cartoony way to go with the game. Also the dynamic lighting and bump mapping and other such things that PS2 can't do, add to realism. Also you want to talk cartoons? Why the hell do Killzone enemies have big glowy eyes?)
Comparing Killzone and Halo is like comparing GTA and The Getaway.
Both poor =)

Please note, Most of the stuff in brackets is my edit. Everything except the "(covies)" bit. Just pointing that out so noone tells me that I just quoted another post, and thats it. I didn't =)
