Hey all.

Lately it seems like there's a lot of criticism, questions, suggestions about this site flying around. Yet not everyone is going to have the same idea. But that got me thinking:

"I wonder if the question was posed to the people, would we come to a consensus, or is everyone seeing Bungie.net on their own terms?"

So I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask none other than the people of Bungie.net. You can only pick ONE thing to change about these Forums, so what would it be? I'm curious to see if we'd be relatively close, or completely scattered in views.

Well here's mine: I want to get rid of Flaming. In my eyes, it's pointless. Sure, it can be funny to those who are looking on, but when it happens to you, it's not funny anymore, is it? And we all know it's a bad feeling, regardless of how tough you come off, or how much you say "I don't care, it's an internet forum," we all react to flaming in the same way: by flaming back. So what happens? The thread is gone. Hijacked.

If I could change one thing about Bungie.net right now, I'd erase all forms of Flames. It's pointless.

So what would you change?

There are multiple Theme Masters (Psyched, Akba, Gruntsbane) and Sir Frag is one of them. He's not the webmaster.

The webmaster is, like, some sort of drunken guy in a gorilla suit, yadda yadda. He pretty much has the option to shut down the site, much to Achronos' dismay.

I'd like to see him, sure. I don't know why he doesn't post. Oh, and baccardinals, I agree that people who take their opinions as fact should be gone. LoL

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

The only thing I would really want changed is to have even more flexibility in the Groups. Just more doodads and bobbles for us to play with to get our groups to be a little more unique. As for the public forums there is not much I would change about it. The only thing I could think of would be an easier way to link for people who just can't understand how to do it but that is a trivial request at best.

I'd change the people. Make them more mature, and change their posting attitude. No flames, (except intelligent debates, which actually couldn't be classified as flames) no spam, and a more... happy place to be.

As long as the public was more mature on the forums, we wouldn't have to deal with people flaming and spamming.

Very true.

And the line between Humor and flaming is......kinda thin. I guess it depends on how you look at it.

What's funny to some may be hurtful to others, but I think we all know the harsh, dry, flames that come from others on this site and can make the difference between that and something that's actually humorous.

My one wish?

That a Bungie.Net account (or MS Passport, or Windows Live ID, or whatever they are calling it this week) could be made more of "one per customer".

By having a single online identity that links back to an individual, I think that a great deal of the uncivil and destructive behavior online would diminish. Easily created accounts are the "2 month trial cards" of this site (and the Internet). Combine that (ease of account creation) with Internet anonymity and people who are inclined to misbehave are able to do just that for as long as they are interested in doing so.

If people knew that their account was a "one time deal" and that they will be accountable for their own actions and/or statements, I think that many disruptive people would either think twice, or would discover that responsibility and maturity are related to knowing and accepting consequences.

I agree. One account per person would help.

I wish the search feature were easier to use. It may actually be a really well-implemented "doodad", but I just can't seem to get the hang of it, and can't seem to ever find what I'm looking for.

I'd like to see an update to the info on Bungie employees: backgrounds, fav games, maybe even a pic. Last time I breezed through there it seemed like many profiles were found lacking. Maybe thats all just in the name of anonymity though. There's gotta be more new people working now with the massive crunches to get H3 out.

I'll be on my own side.

Hmm...I'd like to see the karma system implemented. I'm curious as to how that would work.

And Iceman, we can't get rid of flaming. It's called human nature. People argue, people curse, people attack others.

The CD key thing strikes me as very elitist. And what's to stop people from using the CD key over and over again?

I think the CD-key would not be a good way to go. I say that, because any person who buys the game second-hand off of a person that "tarnished" that registered key on Bungie.net won't have the privelage to participate in the forums. Seems a little unfair to me.
