I have XBox live and have enjoyed many titles over the past year and a half that I have owned it, and I am a fan of the open mic type games, which was started with the original Rainbow Six 3 for the XBox. This means you do not need to press a button on the controller if you wish to speak to your team. I recently read an article, I believe from Gamespy, but I am not sure, that Halo 2 will have proximity voice, and then broadcast voice. The broadcast voice allows you to speak to your entire team, but the press of the white button is required. I don't think you would press a button for proximity voice. I sincerely hope that Halo 2 is open mic, because when in a heated gun battle, and I want to tell my team mates where I am before I die, I do not want to be required to press the white button and take a valuable thumb off of my joystick to call out for back up. I would like to know if anyone has any knowledge on the speech in Halo 2 on XBL.

It works like this:

Prox voice - talk to anyone within a certain distance. default
Team talk - tap white button and start speaking. once you are done speaking the voice channel will close.

I personally think it will work well. Especially since it doesn't require holding down on the white button.
