My Specs:
0.8 Ghz Intel II processor
16 MB Geforce 2
312 MB RAM
21 Gb hard drive
17" CRT

My Settings
Display: 800 x 600
Decals: On
Paticles: Medium
Textures: Medium
Specular/Reflections: Not Available

My Question
How exactly is it possible that my computer is running Halo? It's true, it looks pretty bad, and as someone has me quoted around here, people turn yellow when I shoot them, but all in all, it's not that bad, even though my PC fails to meet the minimum requirements by far. My graphics aren't anywhere near as bad as Intel Crapigrated, even though my card was probably made three years earlier that most Intel chips.

Edit: Nevermind about the Totally Unrelated.....

Is it a custom rig, perchance? The last owner may have OCed everything...

I was the one who quoted you. And that rig is teh crapzors. If my laptop had a vid card capable of 3D images, it would play Halo better than your lump-o-scrap.

Damn...I thought my computer was bad.

Most my current parts are decent but I want at least 512 RAM; I only have 254 at the moment. I want so I can play freaking World of Warcraft. Unfortunatly the two gigs of RAM I'm buying is not compatible with my current Mobo and so I have to wait 'till I have my new parts.

Oh well...I will be patient because I know when my computer is done...It will be leet and run like any program for the next like 6 years.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

graphics arent everything. TBH id rather have no framerate lag or anything with crap graphics then good grahics with lag.

im on the 9600xt with 512mb ram and an intel 2.4ghz.

i run halo at about 80 fps in matches but only about 30fps (or even lower) in 16 man public servers. I have resolution on 640 x 480 and everything on its lowest possible (except particles, i have that on low obviously, not off).

For those of you that want to do better when playing try and get your framerate as high as it can be. Our eyes take a picture every 0.04s but even when our fps is above 25 it can seem unsmooth. This is because the computer can generate 30fps, but that is not 1 frame for every 1/30th of a second. It may check out 10 frames in 0.2s.

Don't know why i typed all that. Anyways yeh elmo that comp sucks pretty bad. Heres my new one that i should be ordering on friday:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM (CP-135-IN) £126

Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT667D2) (MY-097-CS) £152

Intel DP965LT 965 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-011-IN) £088

BFG GeForce 7900 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-018-BG) £179

X-Blade Gaming Midi Tower Case - Black (No PSU) (CA-13-OK) £35

Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU - Black UV (CA-005-HP) £65

Samsung SpinPoint P SP2514N 250GB ATA-133 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-020-SA) £52

NEC ND3550 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-035-NE) £24

Razer DiamondBack Magma 1600dpi Gaming Mouse - Retail (KB-005-RA) £30

Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard - Red (KB-018-SK) £30

Thermaltake Blue Orb II Socket 939/754/775) CPU Cooler (CL-P0257) (HS-005-TT) £19

Thats actually a bit outdated, im geting better stuff now and its a bit cheaper.

Wow why did i type this?

Believe it or not, GBX did a good job making sure low end hardware can run the game. People always -blam!-, saying they did an absolutely terrible job, but they dont realize that thanks to GBX, Halo will run. How well it runs is based on what your hardware can do. You simply cant make something look a certain way if your video card cant do so. I dont see how people aren't understanding that.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

Ummm, just a bit wrong. Intel have released new graphics chipsets since then you know.....or in this case you don't know. My Laptop has GMA900 Intel graphics and runs Halo flat out full settings with the nice invis effects (which Nvidia cards don't run properly), and i know it isn't badly spec'd, since it can support Shader Model 2.0 and DX9 etc etc. Intel's upcoming Integrated Graphics (GMA3000) will fully support DX10, Shader Model 4.0, Geometry Shading and basically all the other new features that DX10 comes with. No benchmarks as of yet, but it looks to be really powerful, especially since it's just integrated on the motherboard!

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

dont forget you can force lower quality rendering paths with commands like this added to your halo.exe target path:

(in order from highest quality to lowest)

"use20"
"use14"
"use11"
"useFF"

well there is always software rendering, but you arent going to be able to play halo at more than 1 or 2 frames a second.
