Some of you may have noticed that the Halo Maps websites have undergone a major face lift. Do not be afraid Change can be good. :)

In preparation for the introduction of Halo 2 Vista I have completely re-vamped the back-end file mirroring architecture, opened sub-domains specifically for both The Halo Custom Edition Game and now the Halo 2 Vista Game and also integrated all of the Halo Maps and Halo Movies offerings onto the main Halo Maps website. You can get to the game specific websites directly or through the main site. There is still some tweeking to be done and much more being planned. So stay tuned. I hope you will find them easy to use and helpful.

And remember it's OK to be a little afraid; after all this is a violent first person shooter game... :)

Dammit I keep forgetting to go back and check up on the progress of that storyline. When will it be back up?

It does exactly what it was designed to do. Which is: Control the bandwidth and the associated cost$ and make people act more responsibly and considerately. Since the website went up it has moved over 2,190,629 files and expended more than 65.50 Terabytes of bandwidth. I think I am entitled to ask people to share and play nicely since it is on my dime. Especially since that is all I ask in return.

Sorry that's not what I meant. I meant it's broken, you can download 2 or 3 maps at a time if you download them all within a second or so within eachother.

It is still there but now it's on the Halo CE Maps website. The main site is now a portal to the Halo CE Maps, the Halo Movies and the Halo 2 Vista Maps websites. All the orginal functions are still there just moved to the sub domain websites where they belong.

I am adding some new features to aggreate the information. For example there is now an RSS 2.0 feed for New files for all websites located on the main home page.

It is a know issue that has to do with the network timing to check the status of both file mirrors. There is a fix to prevent those few thoughtless self centered selfish people from abusing it but it would add up to 30-40 seconds of a delay before a download could commence. I felt that since most of the users are considerate and upstanding, to punish them for the few childish immature small minded misanthropes who try to get around the limit was not worth the aggravation to my users. It is amazing how small people can be isn't it?

There are some hard limits built in to the FTP servers that can not be overcome so the system is safe from major file leeches.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

I like the new look a lot better.
