Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

I think perhaps we need a better way to alert the mods to the presence of spam or other unwanted material. They generally do a pretty good job of keeping the forums friendly, but some stuff can either slip through the cracks or take a bit too long to be closed. I personally am too lazy to PM each mod in hopes that one is online and willing to read a PM from me. I know they have the googletalk thing, but not everyone has google talk. Perhaps a group or even a stickied thread that the mods could quickly look over every once in a while would help. Concerned members could post the problem and a link to it. It's not a perfect solution by any means, but it could be of some assistance.

Any thoughts?

Maybe an IRC Chat. That would work.

Perhaps. I'm not really familiar with IRC. Never used it for one reason or another. The reason I suggested a thread or group is because it doesn't require any extra programs to be on your computer. During the day when most of my posting occurs, many people are at school or work, so we can't add random programs to our machines. idk. Just a thought really.

The Frontline - A group dedicated to help improve the forums as a whole.

I think a group could possibly cause the discriminate of those who "tell tales" on other Members. An obvious Member list may not be desirable to those who innocently want to report some spam. At least with GT (Google Talk) or a PM no-one other than the Mod and you needs to know that you're doing it.

EDIT: I think Google Talk's fine. It's a free download found here and making a Googlemail or Gmail account is free, too.

"You're never gonna fight me, I'll wipe the world away"

When I find a bad thread, I just find the mod who has the most recent post and pm them.

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

Maybe stop the laziness a PM the moderators.

Maybe they could have some kind of email account where b.net users can email them... Maybe a gmail account?

bnetmods@gmail.com is their address. Most of them also have MSN chat as well.

'report this post to the moderators'

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

There was a thread about Google Talk recently. We kind of found out that a lot of the mods don't use it all that much. Ghandi said he does, but no one else responded to say they did. Of course, that doesn't mean the ones who didn't respond don't, but the general concensus seemed to be that MSN was the way to go. Four (or so) of the mods posted their accounts, and others have it public, too.

Here's the thread. And there was another one about contacting the mods too. Still on the front page, I think, if you want to read it.

EDIT: I think that would be a pretty good idea, Gendo. It would at least ensure that if a mod is on, someone will know. I see a potential problem of spamming it, though. But that could probably be dealt with with a simple blacklisting. Well, maybe.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

It would be a lot easier to have a "report thread" button or something along those lines.

Whenever Achronos gets the chance that would be a cool thing to have, Id be willing to wait a while since they are probably already coming up with plans for the New Hawtness V2.

In response to the 'Alert Mods Button', perhaps they could have chips inserted into their heads that are triggered via satellite response whenever a bad thread is started and beamed to them directly.

Or, maybe they could have little Bluetooth-cellphone accessory looking thingies that have a warning siren that goes off in their ear whenever one occurs.

Maybe the button could be linked to their browser and 'WARNING! BAD THREAD FOUND!' blinks in big red letters complete with a little spinning radioactive material symbol on screen.

Are they(bad threads) really such a big problem that the normal PM system will not suffice?

TO THE NEIGHBOR'S!!!

To agree with the "Button" i'd, there could be something like that. May'day May'day this thread's all a'flame and going down fast! Please respond!

Thats a good idea, but of course it would have to wait until after Halo 3.

For now i utilize this . I dont know if its reliable, or even if its legal, but thats what i check.

Here's a pretty nifty tool for alerting mods.

It shows you who's on, and all you have to do is click the avatar and you can just send them a PM.

pezza_d@hotmail.com.

I can't stress to you enough the vitality of MSN to me. That is how I get most of my moderating done.

PM's are glitchy and slow, emails are slow, I don't use Google talk, I'm rarely on IRC - just add me on MSN, it is quick, easy and efficient.

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

Well there is a way to create instant chat rooms. Whenever you're viewing a web page, just add:

http://www.gabbly.com/

In front of any URL and you have an instant chatroom. Maybe the Moderators could open one browser and type in the chat URL and they are in the room. And then they could use another browser to actively moderate. And when someone needs help, they just add the URL in front of the page they are viewing.

Now for this to work, it would probably be best to set the chat up in The Septagon. Thus all you need to do is just click on "The Septagon" *link* in the nav bar to the right, and then add the above Gabbly URL in front of it. Thus insta Septagon/Moderator chatroom.

Here is a Permanent "Septagon" Chatroom link:
