* Before anyone tells me that my grammar is the worst they ever saw, I will say that I am not a native English speaker and that I would love to be able to write in French.
* Some may say that I should post this at the optimatch forum but I disagree. This topic is at the heart of the community.
* I would like to know your opinion about the clan system and please say something more than "I want clan match back" because I already look at the "clan match" topic at the Optimatch forum.
Summary of my argumentation.
* The Clan system was one of the best tool bungie had to build up the community.
* The Clan system was one of the best reason to create a chapter.
* The Clan system was one reason we were able to find a good match. Not only during Clan Match but also when we were facing a good team that know how to play together.
* I dont care about clan match.
* I really care about the Clan system and how we could improve the current situation.
conclusion
Bungie shall improve the current situation as the clan system is one of the best tool they have to promote team work, strategic play and fraternity.
My sugesstion
Clan system need to be more than your second friend list.
7th's members,
I think it is the time to have a serious discuss about the clan system.
But before we start arguing about the advantage and the disadvantage of the clan system, I would like to remind you the origin of the 7th Column expression.
The term originated with a 1936 radio address by Emilio Mola, a nationalist general during the 1936-39 Spanish Civil War. As four of his army columns moved on Madrid, the general referred to his militant supporters within the capital as his "fifth column," intent on undermining the Republican government from within.
I think that the clan system was the real Column of B.net site. Why? The column concept refers to an organized force within a more complex organism. The Clan system was the roots of the Column. I saw a lot of topic about the future of bungie.net and about this community and I would like to point that most of them appear after bungie’s decision to remove the clan system. People don’t have reason to stay here other than flaming and trying to become the biggest chapter around. This isn’t the essence of the column.
Before the removal of the clan match, how many chapters were dedicated to support clan’s activities? What is the current main use for chapter ?
How many people firstly join b.net to find information about the game, the strategies and to find a clan? I did and you probably did to. Why did I stick around for the past 2 years? Because of my clan and because of the fact that it was possible to enjoy a game against a team of people used to play together. Not only to be able to play against 8 guys that meet for the first time 10 sec ago. Most of the most active and dedicated members are leaving b.net to rejoin other site that promote the possibility to “play” with your friends and not only to be in the same party.
What do we have now? We have a bunch of people gathering here and surfing the public and private’s forums. From a game system promoting unity among member and team-work over time, we now have a game system that promotes noting else than a casual game.
Some may say that some website allows us to set-up clan match and that we are suppose to be able to do it by ourselves. My answer is pretty simple: we don’t want to leave this great site. We don’t want to leave the uber cool column. We want to be able to play clan match, we want to be able to use our chapters to coordinate our clan member and to improve our strategies.
When they transform the clan system from the best tool to build-up the Column into a #2 friend list, Bungie removed the real 7th column, the reason why people gathered and stuck around this community: being a part of a nice organization helping people to play together.
Please don’t flame my poor English skills…
