Subject: Registration.

Well, that's kinda where the game/cc registration would come in. If you went that way, then you could bypass the posting limitation and have unrestricted access.

Another idea pertaining to having only one game for say 3 brothers. You could possibly be able to use it up to, say 3 times, to create multiple identities so each fan could have their own personality on this site. I know you could say that still leaves someone the ability to create multiple accounts to spam threads and other bad things. Well, perhaps if someone wanted to go that route, then you could just ban that registration as a whole.

But, what if you were a good member and you're little bro just got on to be a jerk. Maybe whoever registered the game/cc could take authority and responsiblity over the other identities. It is kinda similar to how on XBL that the excuse, "I didn't put those mods on my Xbox, my little bro did it when I wasn't around." We all know that is not a viable excuse in that if you are in charge of that gamertag, then you are responsible for whatever actions pertain to it. It doesn't mattter if you did the wrongdoing or not.

Maybe this is just all too complicated and confusing, but that's what I thought of Groups until I had some time to get aquainted with them.

*Recon posted that before I posted this. I like that idea very much. Its opens up membership to varying levels of identity.

If we can get the community to not view it as a caste system, then that's a pretty good idea, Recon.

Granted, there are few wrinkles to iron out. But a method as such has pontential on this site. But it would have to be seen not as elitist, but rather, as another step in improving one's connection with Bungie.

And the level of interaction (member to member) would have to remain the same, that's for sure.

Rant, you ideas of where you draw the line between a fan and customer are different then mine. This is not an insult, by all means. I have been a fan of Bungie ever since I was into playing Halo. Yes, I am still a customer, but I became a fan once I personally decided I was one. Somebody else can't make that decision for me.

the majority of people would of brought the game first before coming on the website, i know i did after halo 1(then stopped had to create a new account).so if there was a game code inside to join up fully then its their choice to use it after theyve had a look around and decided if it was for them or not.
i think a 24hr or even a 12hr wait before posting would stop spammers because most of them want to do it there and then and they dont want to wait.

Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

Fantastic idea IMHO. I really don't have mcuh to add other than that.

Recon, I like your membership levels idea... It's a good idea. :)

By doing certain things, (*Achievement Unlocked*) people can ascend to more of a Bungie fan. I also don't think this would promote elitism, because to get to the higher ranks, one must be a good person. ;)

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

I actually liked the Karma system idea, or at least what I had heard about it, and I wish that they could come up with a good system to work that out. Recon's is definitely a step in the right direction and JAF did a good idea of throwing out some ideas. I think that something like this could bring some of the older "jaded" members like myself back to the main forums. I would like to see an investment in the community where they value you as a good productive member, not just another screen name, and signature quoting a mod.

I think a 24 hour waiting period before you post would discourage second account users from making another one if they are banned. I also kinda like the registration idea that JAF proposed. *thumbs up*

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

what about using a drivers license?

or somthing like that.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

As far as I can tell, the "game registration" wouldn't be implementable until after Halo 3 is launched - unless they've got a master registry of all the Halo/Halo 2 serial numbers.

I do like the idea of having membership levels, though.

Yes because we all know good people are never elitist.

Is that sarcasm? I'm saying, good members, aren't elitist. That's just how it goes. In my opinion, you're a bad member if you act elitist towards people. :P

Would it be possible for you to have to "link" your E-mail to your online identity here for you to validate your registration. Like say for instance, you create an account here...but you must officially confirm it through the E-mail that you would receive. Thus you are "linking", sort to speak, your identity here with an actual E-mail. And would only be allowed to "link" one identity to one E-mail account.

If you have to register a game to get extras, like custom avatars and such then youre targetting the hardcore fan who is most likely going to behave him/herself anyway and youre missing the spammers and vagrants. SO youre making loyal fans pay for something while not improving the overall condition of the forum.

Save for the chance of removing the trolls and spammers. Anyway, I'm just throwing out ideas here.
Or for twenty four hours the only thing in the forums they can read are the stickies. Just tossing out ideas.
