what about using a debit card instead, yeah its finacial, but alot of non adults have them aswell, and aslong as it stated lots and lots your not charged for using it (unless at the store of course) wouldnt that be fine?

thats completley understandable to why people are worried about these things happening, we have to remember though, bungie would only use that info to stop people having mulitple accounts and for the person to evently become a bungie FAN (as explained by recon on page 3)

Then again why not just stick to game codes and let it only be used once, thats stops the mulitple account and spamming, do we need an extra form of ID?

If you have to register a number from a piece of product I dont think you should.

then you dont have to, you can link your gamertag or use your c.c.

my question to you though is, did you buy halo 1 or 2 before coming to this site? if so then the only reason you know of this place is because you brought a game and then wanted to find out more. it could be bungies way of saying 'thanks for buying this game if you want to know more come here and use this, but you dont have to if you dont want to' (sorry i nicked that from recon)

Sadly, the Diamond Card is available to XBL-Gold accounts only. Looking at mine, it does not have an account number or a magstripe, so I don't think that other than the gamertag, it is realted to anything.

I think thats its obvious that as more and more people purchase items and conduct shopping and business online that advances will be made to create more secure virtual ID's. As Agent Smith would say its inevitable. Information is power and nowadays is big business. We are seeing the slow death or paradigm shift from a free internet to a pay-per-view internet much as we saw a change from free tv to pay for cable.

Not to mention you must have an xbox live account for one year till you may get it, not to mention it takes forever to recieve a diamond card.

But something similar in concept (but obviously different in execution) to the XBL-Diamond card might be helpful.

Something that someone gets for free, offers other perks (discounts, announcements, etc.), is not age-restrictive, carries no financial links, but is linked to a real person and mailed to a real mailing address.

Kind of like an old Captain Video decoder ring.... you get one and are now a "cadet" and part of the "secret club". Only cooler and not like Leave it to Beaver.

How about an XBL-Diamond card concept, but made by bungie? Sure that is highly improbable, but it is worth a shot. Anyone would be able to register and it would be linked to your identity and only yours. Something of this concept would work, no purchase necessary, any age group may get it, and it can be optained through mail and linked to ones identity.

Ways to let people know youre an old geezer. Mention decoder rings AND Leave it to Beaver.

What are you talking about? Decoder ring and Leave it to Beaver were awsome!

Some ideas are good with that, but i dont like it that only linked GTs can see stats and such.

If a member doesn't have a linked gamertag, how would they know about stats and why would they need to view them?

I was veiwing my stats long before I made my account. I have many friends that only go on bungie for stats and don't post or like their GTs.

Maybe its just my friends, but I was guessing maybe many others do this too.

Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

Sorry that I am so late to the discussion, school and all...

anyway, I kind of dislike the idea of making accounts seem more personal. I see where you guys are coming from, but I really think we have a fine system; If you let bungie enslave you to moderate you get a nice avatar, white text, and a legion of suck-ups to attach to your backside. If not, you're just one of the guys( or gals) hanging out on the best site on the internet.

I understand the plus sides of the idea, but I think it's just fine as it is, and their is little risk in sticking to the same path.

A while ago, someone mentioned the idea of registering a game before being able to join this website. Dmbfan mentioned [rest of post]...

I would like that. I wouldn't look at any of the exclusive stuff, but I would look like I do. Genius.

*cries* But Recon, I don't have a gamercard. I have Halo PC. Bungie made that too, you know.

*weeps hystaricly*

I don't have much to say that hasn't been said alraidy, except that not everyone has a credit card.

I don't like the credit card idea. I also disagree with the whole "game registration to have an account" deal. However, I think registering a game should offer special privileges like being able to add pictures in your signature, a longer signature, insider content, text markup tags in your quote, exclusive avatars (not custom avatars, but Bungie-made ones), and exclusive forums. If this does happen, I hope only registering one game will get you these privileges. If you register two, you don't get any other special privileges.
