IGN has taken a moment to sit down with Eric Nylund on the Ghosts of Onyx novel. The interview touches on a variety of topics, from the Halo universe to his writing style to some new details about the book itself. If you're interested in the book(s) at all, it's a good read.

...And so the hero crawled through the fissure on the surface of Tyr. There, the lone Dwarf stared into the cold, dark eyes of Soulblighter...The fiend hefted his blade over his shoulder as a flock of raven took upon his form...

Really nice update, gave some good basic information about the story and aspects of the fourth book.

So... the suit has a shield unit, is for STANDARD UNSC personal, and it is called a "Thingy" (tm). LOL

Halsey is one of Nylunds' favorite characters. (AWESOME)

The books help expand the Haloverse, but not actually complete it.

And Frankie likes to get phone calls from random people with questions about the Halo Storyline... any time; day or night.

Awesome Update KP! 2 weeks till "Ghost" hits book shelves! I think I'll call in sick to the office on October 31. lol

I agree, she's my favorite too.

Well duh... if they didn't then Microsoft wouldn't make any money.

(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Did anyone even read the entire interview? Nylund says something along the lines of " Ghost is the end of the first chapter of the Halo saga". Which I interpret to mean that there could be more games as well as the already mentioned possibility of more novels. Great news

Great Interview. Bungie u r constantly building more tension and anticipation. I admit I haven't read all the halo novels but I definitely will have b4 Halo 3 comes out.

I think we can get a few clues about plotlines form the interview though.

"Onyx is the planet where the main story occurs"
"Without giving anything away, GHOSTS will touch on several events before, during, and after HALO 2."

So I was thinking does that mean we are going to get clues on the ark, or some other forerunner artefcats. OR r we going to see a stroy that takes place parralel to the events of Halo 2. Possibly the adventures of the remaining spartans on the planet onyx while the cheif is battling the covenant. Will the cheif even be in the novel?

Wow Eric Nylund is is your favorite Author? Ok you must me 12 and on the verge of puberty. Do your self a favor and read a novel from Ian Douglas, really he's such a better Author. IGN was praising him for his technical references in military warfare? wow then they haven't read a good novel.

Go out and read Ian Douglas The Heritage Trilogy and then read the Legacy Trilogy. Then tell me who you think should write the Halo books.

Of course I'll read the novel but by no means is Eric Nylund a good author, I've read some of his other work and I could't finish it because it was so terrible. But alas if I want any more story/info on the halo universe I have to rely on this Hack to write it.

Oh well what can you do

Bluerealm, I don't think anyone cares if you think he's a bad author. You probably have very high standards but for me as a Halo nerd, Eric Nylund is a good author. He might not be the best, but he's definitely good enough. AND he really likes the whole Halo thing which you can see in the novels - he really puts his soul into the books.

Well thats my opinion and thats yours, yes I do agree with you that he is a halo nerd, so am I, and yes I do believe you can see that in the novels, all Im saying to the fan boys that think he's the best Author ever they should go and check out the set of book I listed. Eric Nylund DOES NOT get very technical in his books on weapons and warfare.
It drives me nuts when people say that he is so technical, he's not. Go and read the books I list and you will understand.

Nylund! I thought you were better than this! You confirmed that the "mystery weapon" is ballistic, so that rules out the possibility of some more advanced covie->human tech copying, and the part about the "father figure" I'm pretty sure its CPO Mendez... and I thought you had more subtlety in you... tsk tsk tsk... (yes, I realise that there is probably more, but I found 2 things on the first read through)

(edited for spelling)

People like Halsey? Eeee. More than half of my small collection of Halo fanfiction is about criticizing the Spartan program-- Mainly on their methods of abducting children, and the like. You might blame ILB for that...

No. And I am not like Ackerson. I disprove of Section III entirely. But, it's military intelligence. What can you do, right?
