What are your opinions on seeing MC's grill at the end of Halo2? I'll start...

First, we, or at least I, have come to associate Halo with a guy in helmet. When you see the cover of Doom (II) with a guy in a helmet, you know it's Doom. I don't think anyone looks at a Half-Life cover and says, "man I should stay away from him."

Not that BGie would let everyone down, but should worse come to worst, do you really want what could be one of the best games ever to get ruined when MC looks like Tom Selleck or Letterman, or whoever? Inevitably, someone will drag up some C grade celebrity who looks just like MC; will the game not lose some of its luster? Just use your imagination. Frankly, keeping the helmet on keeps the aura, and besides, as long as the helmet stays on, Halo 3 is always a possibility.

I agree. If his helmet stays on then what he looks like is still up to your imagination, it keeps the characted mysterious.
So you can still say he is really a cow.

Maybe the Master Chief showing his face will be the plot twist that Bungie has implied... :-D

But on a more serious note, I've come to associate the Master Chief with his armor, helmet included, but I'm an easy kind of guy, so I wouldn't mind if they did show his face or not.

seriously, i hope the face stays hidden, add to the mystery, kinda like the way you only saw the top half of wilsons face on the sitcom "home improvment", that was great.

A whole game/plot segment on what a guy looks like?

That reminds me a little of Metroid (NES). Who knows--maybe the helmet is complete with voice modification.

It'd be very funny if he looked like David Letterman, or maybe the Mad magazine guy--isn't his name Alfred or something?
Since MC's name is John, maybe they should get John Stamos's head under the helmet. That'd draw in the female demographic.
Then again, so might Rick Springfield. He's playing at the Emerald Queen Casino soon, so Bungie could slip over there and do a head scan of him.
If they do, does that mean that MC stole Jessie's girl (Cortana?)?
Now that's a plot twist!

And if the MC is a girl, who would she be? Wait a minute--I read the novels--this doesn't seem physically possible!

But he takes his helmet off at the last cut scene of the game (as halo is blowing up) and his voice doesn't change.

Ah, how could I forget? That was one of the most shocking and funniest moments that I've seen in the Red versus Blue series! :-D

Yes, notice how in each subsequent Metroid, the suit/armor gets more and more resemblant (a word?) of a female figure. Go back and look at the linebacker-esque armor in the first Metroid cover/promo photo, if such a thing exists, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I'm sure someone came up with the female thing at the last minute; you never know when Bungie can pull out some Sixth Sense-style of trickery that plays on names/coincidences in the novels (none of which I have read) to mislead the reader into assuming a male character. John sounds close to Joan, after all.

The people at Bungie probably think we're paranoid, which is good in my opinion. :-D
