Has anyone had any experiance of the following:

We have a LAN at home running through a Belkin broadband router with a 1.5Mb NTL fatpipe connecting us to the net.

Two of us have Halo, and we happily connect to internet multiplayer games (one of us going in and the other connecting by Direct IP) without any problem... we can both play on the same remote server with other players.
Last night, our other housemate came home with a copy of halo, so we all tried to get onto a server and kill each other. Howerver, it only seems to let 2 of us connect to the game at any one time. The last person to try and connect to the HALO server cannot. It just says "unable to join"

If one of us comes out, then they can connect no probs. Also, we can all connect to different internet games at the same time, but not the same internet game. We can all join a LAN game, but obviously it only the three of us, with no other players...

Is this a restriction by the Server administrator? to prevent 3 or more people on the same network from joining the game?

Heyyo,

Hmm, well, my clanmates are havin' the exact same prob dude. But they're onna cable modem, no router, and one uses the ethernet port, and the other uses the usb port.Only 1 of them can join a game at a time though... so I'm guessing it's the strenght of the connection that matters, or a stupid bug that's in HaloPC... try haloCE, see if that makes a difference...

ThE_MarD,
Your problem sounds completely different. It's likely the case that it's a simple IP problem. If you don't have a router in front of the two computers, they're both trying to use the same IP and that causes serious problems. Unless your IP gives out multiple IPs to its customers (which is virtually unheard of), you're going to have to throw a router in front of those suckers to act as a DHCP server. Unless you're using ICS, in which case I've never used that and don't want to get in over my head. In any case, I know routers work, they're easy to use, support more people than ICS, and they're cheap enough nowadays...

Passflips,
That's very interesting. I've never heard of anything like that. The only things I can think of would be to verify that you're all using unique product keys and no cracks. The only reason people wouldn't be able to connect would be if they were sharing a key or IP address. I can tell you that there's no way (that I know of) to restrict the number of players from a certain network in Halo's dedicated server package. What about other games? Do you three have the same problem with other games?
