I recently started up a new group, and I'm debating with myself if I should use PM invites. It's a much more effective system, but I don't want to cause anger torwards me or my group, so I need your help. Should I invite people, or just stick with Classified threads and other conventional methods.

Edit: What about inviting moderators, is that against the rules?

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Personally, I am indifferent towards generic PM invites. For the most part, I'll just ignore any invites that are obviously generic. Now, if I got an invite that I could tell had at least thought about who they wanted to invite, then I would consider it.

Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

I'd send them. Everyone else does. It works. It's considerate of you to ask here.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

No. I make a point of, if I can remember the name, never joining a group that has sent me a PM invite. Ever. And if you're sending them, please count me out.

Go ahead. I'll block you from ever PM'ing me again but the chances of that happening are really small.

Knock yourself out. Just remember, I accidentally shot Lassie looking for dinner tonight and uh.....

Ok, I was building to something sarcastic to say but I had nothing. Just remember to have fun!

You shouldn't send PM invites to whoever disagrees in this thread.

Thanks impurity, who'd have thought :-P

Sure go ahead. Im always checking out the groups that has sent me invites via PM.
One thing has hit me though, and this goes for 90 % of all the groups, the lack of a good chapter description. I was thinking of starting a thread about this but i might as well just sneak it in here. So if you´re sending someone a PM about your group and expects them to take their time to check it out make sure that you have a good description. Thats my only advice.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

As several people have said, it's more effective. I'd say go ahead. However, you should make sure you only send invites to members you think would enjoy the group, and explain what the group is and why you think the member would like it (and never, ever send a generic invite). At the least the member might become interested and choose to check out the group.

As for inviting moderators...I'd assume their group lists are nearly full. PMing them, as far as I know, isn't against the rules, but unless there's a good chance they'd enjoy the group, you probably won't get very far.

Do it. If they flame you, then reply with flames, and black them. You get the last word and a fuzzy feeling. If you don't get a reply, then that's average (for me), and sometiems it'll even work; pending on many things.

P.S. I don't need to be in more groups. -_-

I also never ever join greoups that PM me, but I don't join groups unless they are very very worthwhile.

The sig is the best weapon. Just make people curious, or interested in the link, and someone will probably click it. THEN IT WILL GROW.

And you won't have had to annoy people with PMs!

If you feel like it, do it, just don't do it too much.
