...And so the hero crawled through the fissure on the surface of Tyr. There, the lone Dwarf stared into the cold, dark eyes of Soulblighter...The fiend hefted his blade over his shoulder as a flock of raven took upon his form...

In the level, Truth and Reconciliation, you must find and search for Captain Keyes. As you progress through the Covenant cruiser, you soon find him in a cell including other captive marines. Cortana than states: "One moment Sir. Accessing Covenant battlenet. (Pause) According to the data in their networks, the ring has some kind of deep religious significance. If I'm analyzing this correctly...they believe that Halo is some kind of weapon. One with vast, unimaginable power. The Covenant know this is a weapon and do not believe in thier religion tales. This could be either those Elites must have figured out, possibly from 343 Guilty Spark, that Halo is a weapon. Which is where the start of herecy has begun then soom later followed up in Halo 2. Or these Elites could be The Prophet of Truth's loyal Elites. Whom, if Truth does know of Halo's true purpose, must have told the Elites what Halo could do. Promising them from a doomed existence. The ship cruiser's name states the name Truth. Which could be meaning many of things...or even the Prophet himself. The cruiser could be his ship with his loyal Elites.

This is a good theory. I always thought it started when the Heretic Leader met Guilty Spark at Installation 04's wreckage, tho.

I agree that there is much unclarity:

Keyes hears an Elite say that Halo is weapon.
Cortana denies that it is a weapon, but something more important.
Master Chief explains to Elite that Halo is a weapon, the Elite does not believe it.

343 confirms that Halo is a weapon to Elite that is still unsure.

hmm..u could be on to somehting here.
The name of the ship truth and reconciliation..i think you could be right about the truth and his loyal gaurd part. I looked up the word reconcile, and found something interesting.
reconcile:
to cause (a person) to accept or be resigned to something not desired: He was reconciled to his fate

this could mean that his royal gaurd on the ship were forced to accept the truth of halo as a weapon.
and even quite possibly in my mind. truth could be the only one who actually knows the *truth*. that and his reconciled elites.
thus truth and reconciliation

Very nice! All this really ties into the possibility of the Prophet of Truth knowing Halo's true purpose. Also they held one of the most highest rankings officers of the UNSC, Captain Keyes. Truth would only trust them to keep him captive. This could also be the start of the Honor Guards as well.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

The only reason i think it wouldnt be Truths ship is because in the Book HALO THE FLOOD

The marines capture the prohit in command of that ship and all covenant forces of halo and he dies along with everyone else.

But I agree the elites had to have found out some how.
