Just curious what the rest of you are thinking.

I'm guessing there will be 10-15 and hoping there will be 15-20 (or more).

A curious thought would be that we might be able to play EVERY level as multi player. I was just thinking about Halo and how cool it would be to play some of the maps that are in the single player missions as multiplayer. Realistically I am thinking somewhere around 10-12. a few smaller maps and a few huge ones.

I've had similar thoughts, as far as the single player maps being used as multiplayer maps (in Halo:CE). Often the more rural, open settings (Silent Cartographer comes to mind) with essential makeshift 'bases' of fallen trees, shrubbery and a cliff's edge would make for awesome fire-fights. Unfortunately, the maps are far too ... not linear , but simply would not work as multiplayer maps for numerous reasons. As far as Halo 2's campaign maps being the same as the Multiplayer, I doubt it. Zanzibar (Zanzabar? Seen it spelt both ways) as a campaign mission would be far too straight forward and condensed (it seems to me). Inspired and directly relative to the campaign? Seems far more likely to me.

I have to agree with Mr White. 10 to 12 sounds right to me.

The ones we know about (which, of course, are subject to change) are: Lockout (small, tall, thin, a slaughterhouse waiting to happen); Burial Grounds (medium, desert-like, with ribs--"He's goin' Ribs!"); Zanzibar (medium, beachfront property in Africa, fortifiable against attack, intricate, but full of holes); and (my favorite so far) Waterworks (Large, with a capital "L," in charge, like Charles, with a gigantic alien structure smack in the middle of a cave the size of Antartica (well, it'll seem that big if you're not using the vehicles), and a hole in the roof (I, for one, will be trying to get out that hole with a banshee to see what's up there)).

Man, just writing about them makes me excited!

I wouldn't like too many maps. Because when there would be a poll to choose which map you liked the most. If there are too many maps to choose from then i'd have a mental break down and would need to relieve it by playing more 2.

I think there will be a few more maps than in halo2 and I also think they'll re-introduce some of the favoured maps from halo1 in all its halo2 graphical goodness complete with vehicle boarding, dual wielding, the works... I heard that they might on a forum but this is far from confirmed. Then again, that post was correct in assuming there will be live matches SPARTANS vs. ELITES which was recently confirmed so lets pray that blood gulch returns in halo2!
