Recently, GameJunkieJim created a thread relating to an interview in one of our forums. It remained un-stickied for it's first hour (rough estimate) of it's life. It continued to rack up posts untill it was pinned. From then on, it probably got (rough estimate) 2 or 3 more posts in the next day. What am I trying to say is that nobody looks at the stickies. No surprise. Likely, the most popular idea to fix this problem is Iceman's idea of turning the symbol into, a sticky (Plasma Gernade) but I think this will not work. Yes, it will turn heads in our newer crowd, but still won't catch your eyes when a new thread has been pinned, so here's my idea:
A seperate activity system for stickies. Just like the system in place for the un-pinned threads, but one in place for the stickies. Let me show you what I mean.
Here
See how newer, more active threads are green, hot topics have a flame, along with the exclamation, and the older threads, are regular orange. I was thinking to give the in-active stickies a brown, cracked symbol, much like the one for in-active, un-pinned threads now, but I think that would give an impression that the thread is un-important. So I left that alone. I think this system would be effective, it would let people know any new stickies that were put in place. I would like to know what the community thinks, so feedback would be much appreciated.
