My Opinion

1-Combine the rules into one sticky

2-Take some of the stickies (such as the XFire, Clan Directory, and FAQ stickies) and edit them into the "Guides" Sticky

3-Combine the tourny stickies into one big sticky labled "Current Tournaments", and remove completed tournaments or create a seperate post in the sticky labled "Completed Tournements"

This should remove most of the clutter into 3-5 stickies.

PS-Thanks for the compliment :)

I would say it's time to clean house. Delete stuff that is barely used, and combine stuff like the Rules, Xfire, Clan directory, and CD Key stickys into one sort of "general FAQ" thread.

You can remove the Maw Tournament sticky, as signups are closed. All I'm waiting fore is AJ to post the bracket...

But the sticky has server it's purpose.

Like everyone said, combine all the rules and FAQ's in one huge thread. Take down the tourney stickies, since it already started, and no one else can register for them anyways.

Hrm...

I'm not exactly sure about what to do with my Xfire sticky. Here's the situation: I update the Xfire guide on a needs-basis; when Xfire releases a major revision or new feature, I make a major revision to my guide. Minor revisions occur almost weekly, as people are constantly being added to the Xfire list. It's certainly not the most active sticky, but it is useful to those first-timers to The Maw, and I still get a relatively constant stream of PMs with requests to be added to the List. I'll let others decide what to do with my sticky.

I do agree that some of the more irrelevant stickies need to be taken down, especially those which have expired.

Personally, the H2V FAQ should stay, at least until the game is released.

The Clans Listing sticky serves little to no function, since most people looking for clans won't bother sifting through 13 pages of mostly defunct clans, but will instead create a new thread asking for a new clan.

The three rules stickies can certainly be combined into one sticky, as Omnios has mentioned before me.

I voted for leave it like it is. But on second thought, I wish that we should take some of the lesser unnecessary stickies and merge some of them together.

Hm...

-Combine the rules threads into that single "official" sticky.
-Have a FAQ sticky for general faq, then also have links to other more specific faqs in it.
-Make the "topics of interest" thread.

I was just looking at the ammount of stickies compared to the other forums and we have a lot, and I was thinking about asking some time.

Yeah, it just needs to be cleaned up a bit, get rid of inactive ones, combine the rules, maybe take down the Xfire thread, I mean, Xfire is everywhere now. I really don't mind them, but now that you mention it, we do have a lot more stickys than necessary. The rules, don't ask for CD keys sticky and the READ ME FIRST need to be combined.

I say make three stickys. One "read me first" thread for rules and other stuff like that. The second for comunity stuff, like the X-fire and CE guids and the tournament threads. The third for other threads of interest. That way it is organised and easy to use.

Also, I think ther should be a help thread where people can post if they need help with something but they can not/ do not want to post a new thread about it. For example, right now, I can not post new threads for some reson (can someone help please).

we r?

I agree with kim, I'm fine with the scrolling but maybe merge similar ones together.

or..... maybe i was just thinking, have someone make a new post, with links to everything............ and that one post can go in the stickies, and that person can have separate sections in his post, so it's easy to read.

or just have all the stickies in one post, I don't mind scrolling.

Well recon here is my two cents. You obviously don't want to merge stickies that don't have any general relevence.

I would keep the xfire sticky, it is informative and it useable at all times.

Go ahead and delete the God of Halo tournament sticky, I am dubbing that over because people weren't following through.

You still want to make everything easily accesible and make it easy to find. You don't want to have one huge sticky, otherwise you might make it so people read even less than they do now, the other thing is that stuff like the rules and general info are frequently requested knowledge; Having seperate stickies for them makes it easier to find. Also make the sticky short and sweet. No need to have an admissions essay on why to stay on topic or not to flame. People don't want to read that anyway. I would follow guidelines of the sticky you linked to.

So to recap.
-Make the stickies short, sweet, and to the point.
-Take down the God of Halo sticky
-Separate stickies based on importance compared to others.
-Keep the xfire sticky but me15ter I would suggest cutting that down a little if at all possible.
-And for the love of god link all new comers to the stickies before they are allowed to post.
-Take down the PC clan diretory, that is what the classifieds are for. If they want that than they can go to the forum which is designed for it.
-Keep th H2 faqs page until the game comes out and then take it down.

I will probably think of quite a few more later but give me some time and I'll post.

wow, juge screen, and I see your frustration.

Just a recap for everyone; once the game comes out the FAQ will be revamped to its liking. This will include a new slew of FAQ questions some might ask even after the game comes out, and when it does the goodies section will no doubt be a lot bigger.

I guess clean up the stickies that have no purpose anymore.
I'm cool with half a page of useful stickies.
Edit: I see Recon has done some work with the stickies.

2. Take down some of the tourney threads since both of them either aren't going or aren't very active.

I took a peek at the clan listing and it IS horrible.

I'm going to take some time to clean it up. We've fixed the bug that "broke" threads when posts were deleted, so I really can do something about that thread.

I am removing any posts that are from inactive and deleted Bungie.Net member accounts. Once I have that done, I am going to send a message to the folks who have active accounts and posts in the thread asking them to either update, or edit (asking for a removal) of their existing thread.

With that done, we could/should have a better and more accurate "clans list".

Not to sound pretentious, but could we have a relatively active member do something with the Clans sticky in the same way I'm maintaining my Xfire SN List? It's a formula that works, though it requires someone with a bit of dedication (I'm alredy stretched thin, so that's a no for me).
