Could it have been a reference to the light sword? Looks to me like when MC is locked on and lunges with that upper cut, he's going right in the middle of the ribs. Just a thought. Any other ideas?

I think it was a reference to a level called Burial Mounds. There are skeletons around the level, and ribs poke out of the ground. That's why they say that. Look it up in the updsates @ HBO!.
