Somehow, i just know that when xbox live goes down, new mombasa and possibly several forums are just going to be swamped with spam that goes "ZOMG BuNgIe Xb0X l1V3 not VV0rkIng wh4+ is 15 g01ng 0N!!!! FIxX ITT!!!"

just a suggestion: you guys might wanna put up a sticky as a preemptive precaution before xbox live goes down, so as to reduce tha amount of spam that will pop up.

[half joke]also, i suggest that you put in the sticky that anyone who starts new topics like the above will have the banhammer fall on them, then go crazy on them newbs when the spam pops up. =D[/half joke]

If I remember correctly, Microsoft usually has sent out a message to all Xbox Live accounts before they take it down for a day. So if anyone logs on, they'll see that and know everything has been shut down.

That won't stop people from posting about it.

Neither will a Sticky. But it'll help.

If they make one, it will have to say something like:

XBOX LIVE IS DOWN FOR THE DATE OF OCTOBER 17, 2006

As the title, then a link to the story on the main page. I can actually picture quite a bit of these threads popping up......

I suppose that's where the half-joke comes in...

imagine... if they actually put into effect the banning of guys that posted about xbox live going down, shishka would have a field day.

i predict the number of locked threads will hit 3 digits.

Ah well if it happens it happens.

I doubt the field day would be with Shishka. Haven't seen him on here in weeks, or in his group for that matter. :(

They must really have him tied down in Texas making magic with the other Bungie All-Stars or somethin'. That or he has really just given up on Bnet. It would be sad to see him too go the way that Sketch did. I wasn't even around when he still posted. I hope and think that it is probably the first explanation though. I'm no Shishka-hater.

Heres an idea. How about just ignoring those threads and/or posts and pretending its just another day. Too boring right. MUch more fun to talk about bannings and make a big spectacle about it I know.
QFT FTW WTF?

Yeah, people really need to start learning how to use the "Do Not Submit" button (also known as "Cancel"). If you believe a thread should be locked or not created to begin with, then why would you reply to it and bump it back to the top of the page?

ummm... dmb, have you forgotten what happened the last time xbox live went down?

*shudders*

for those who werent here to witness it... it wasnt that threads were getting bumped back up, it was that so many new topics about the outage were being created that pratically every non-related to XBL outage thread was sent past the front page by the sheer volume of spam.

I wish at certain times, a Java pop-up can happen when someone presses "New Topic" that gives an update on something like a downed XBL.

Members here should not post about such obvious, and wide spread problems. The first thing they should be doing if Xbox live goes down is checking online at Microsoft controlled sites to see if this is some planned event. Besides that sort of post belongs in the xbox.com forums not Bungie. Xbox live being taken down for a day has nothing to do with Bungie.

That would work for a lot of things....
For someone's first post, they would get a pop up, and the only way to get rid of it, is to be redirected to the rules.
This could be something good...
