The best part of this faceless community is that inhibitions brought on by being a minority (racially, gender or belief) are not so prevalent.
Do people really feel inhibited by by being a minority on the internet? I dont know if I agree that people tend to fall into so-called societal roles once they realize others know that theyre a minority.
I don't feel inhibited on this site just because of my race. Sure, we're all just text, and in a perfect world we can discuss things without having to wonder what people look like, but deep down, some may be curious.
Is that why I have my pic in my sig? Not really. Is it to make a statement about who I am? Nah. It's actually because I like to look at myself ;-)
LoL, but seriously, just because I'm a minority doesn't mean I feel any different than people on here. And yes, I have been messanged with stuff like "I didn't know you were black" and whatnot. I don't mind. I think diversity is a good thing, though on a Forum it isn't a big deal. But if someone has a question about a certain stereotype or whatever else pertains to race, I'll answer because sometimes it's best when people see it from that perspective.
At least, that's what it seems like to me.
Wait a minute, aren't we talking about gurls??? I think we need more Cortana avatars or something. That way we can have more of that for those who are interested in showing they're a girl or........pretending they're one, LoL
