I am pretty hyped about DX10 on Halo 2 Vista are you? I wonder what it will offer graphically. Developers who are working on Dx10 say that the difference between the previous version is outstanding, not to mention it will perform 10 X better. So i wonder how drastically the game will change with DX10.

Time will tell, i guess.

Halo2Vista may not utilize any DX10 elements. They have not verified if DX10 will have any affect on Halo2Vista. Right now you will only need a DX9 card to run it.

Read the sticky. H2V will not utilize DX10 graphics, or else you'd be required to have a DX10 graphics card, and those aren't even out yet.

Recommended:
Video Card: DirectX 10, 256 MB/T&L capable

Its BACKWARD compatible with DX9, but doesn't mean it won't be DX10. Heck its a "Vista only" game and it would be pretty stupid if they didn't include some DX10 elements.

Thanks for pointing that out actually. I never noticed that. Sorry Boo Diddly, but the game will do beyond well enough with a X1900.

Yes, he did take those specs off the FAQ. It was you who suggested the specs, remember? I guess I overlooked the DX10 recommended requirements.

Then why the flying frack does it require Vista then? Other than a very transparent way of foistering an unneccessary upgrade on people.

The good news is that this makes it very possible that somebody will provide an XP hack for it.

For many reasons. H2V will take advantage of Vista through a new feature called LiveAnywhere, which will come with Vista. H2V will also take advantage of the OS itself; how exactly is unclear to me, but Master Dragon has an answer to that. For other purposes, Vista is to reintroduce gaming to the PC; what better way to do it then a pure example of a hit Xbox game being twice as good with extreme upgrades that it merits a title such as, "Halo 2.5."

Besides, we'll have many Vista-only games to come, and I'm also quite tired of people acting like they won't buy the OS too. Yeah, that's what everyone said about XP; now look where we are. "NOES! I LIKE XP! ME NO WANT TO UPGRADE!"

Out with the old, in with the stronger, faster, and better.

I believe that it is almost without a doubt that it would be impossible to get a H2V to XP hack. There will most likely be certain things that may improve visual quality in directx 10 that 9.0c just does not do.Who knows, there may be some settings that can only be enabled if you have dx 10.

What os did you have before xp may i ask?

ps, agamemnon. I's was just making sure because It sounded like he was quoting an official bungie thing. I guess i just supprised myself =þ There are guarenteed production models of Dx10 graphics cards, Otherwise how would someone be able to test a single directx 10 feature?

True, but his original question was if he was going to need a DX10 graphics card, and the FAQ listed in our recommended settings that you would, which is not true. If it is then, then I'm sure it's nothing but a drivers update couldn't fix.

There are reasons to eventually migrate to a new OS, but playing a game is not one of them. I will eventually go to Vista, but it won't be for a while. From what I've seen of it so far, Vista has nothing I really need that justifies the expense, and it has some things like the increasingly intrusive DRM that I don't want.

I just got a new PC, so it'll be a couple of years till I go with VIsta. Halo 2 and some desktop graphical flashiness? I can think of way way better ways to spend a couple of hundred bucks.

And I can't see ANYTHING in Halo 2 that requires Direct X 10 or the game would be a bust.
