Does anyoen else think the beach assault on Legendary is one of hte best moments in gaming or at least Halo?

This is the most fun I have on Halo next to defending the first structure on the "Halo" mission agaisnt the waves of Covenant landers.

Sighness

Indubidubly. Banana.

Ya, this was a tight battle. I wish it was a little longer though =) Maybe a few less Marines and more Grunts.

This is defintely one of the best moments of gameplay I've experienced, I play it over and over on legendary, just the beach clearing.

Definitely. This was short but oh so sweet. It should have been longer and included some more covenant defences, more grunts yes but not less marines. Cause they add to the character of it along with the music.

Hey maybe in Halo 3 we'll get to assault across the desert towards the covenant position with what remains of the UNSC forces. Check out this screen which at one time might have been more than just artwork

The mini battle should have been an all out war :P

The Silent Cartographer is my most favorite level. Huge explosions, covies flying all over the place (or what was left of them), UNSC Marines trash-talking.... that's what it's all about. Take me down to Paradise City!

I don't like it on Legendary so much as on other modes. But it is the best moment, the only time when we are on the offensive, we call the time and moment of the battle, we win and not through hiding and sneaking as usual but through superior numbers and firepower. Halo 2 could have had a similiar moment at the beginning of Delta Halo but alas, 3/4 of the ODST's are dead from the start and it's all up to the Chief again.

Yeah what's up with that. Loads of drop pods were launched and in the end ony 2 or 3 OSDT troops were left. I thought these guys were supposed to be accurate and deadly. Come on Bungie, a big buildup and no real bang. Well apart from the cheif and his rocket launcher.

I don't think I've ever spent as much time on one particular game than Halo1 on Legendary. I must have fought my way up that beach 500 times just to make sure all of my marines survived.

As for the Halo2 delta halo level. I too find it annoying that you only get 3 ODSTs still alive when you start and that all the others are dead. Whereas in Halo1 you can save up to 11 (or is it 12?) marines on AotCR you only get 5 or 6 maximum on any level on Halo2.

I like Halo.

Yea, I agree with everything you guys have said, but, with that said, I can't ever make myself actually participate in that beach-front battle when I play on Legendary because I'm always hooked on the prospect of finishing the levels as fast as I can... so I ALWAYS avoid that battle by walking the other way around the island and grabbing the flipped hog.... I know, it's boring, but I somehow can't make myself take the long way. It's a mental block I guess...

Yea, everything was perfect. Marines dying left and right. Gernades, dark and blue, flying through the air. And me, killing every last living thing touching that white, blood-soaked beach... Good times, good times...

It was a pretty cool sequence doing that beach landing. That would be D-Day if it was during 2552. lol

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

hell yes, something about hitting the ground and being under immediate fire, and needing to take territory like that. it was awesome.

i played through that landing for about an hour. just killing them and then restarting. one of, or maybe, the best gaming experience ever. the AoTCC battles in the snow were pretty fun to.

Actually, there are ghosts in the SC beach landing. In Halo PC, if you open up the Silent Cartographer map in an editing program such as sparkedit, there are two ghosts right behind where the Pelicans land. I have no idea where they go or why ther'yre there, but they exist.
