Getting ready to build a "Halo 2" specific rig,and got to wondering if it will support/fully use all four cores on the new quad core processors(i.e Alan Wake)?????Any insight to help me get my project "budgeted"...
The sticky thread can help. Also, considering it's going to be a new game, I'm sure it will recognize and support quad core.

Your simplest answer is 99% no. Multithreaded games have to be designed that way from the engine up. Doing so would be to literally reprogram the H2 engine instead of porting it.
Thank you..thats what I was needing to know!! Now I can spend the money elsewhere in the system.Didn't see anything about it in the FAQ...[Edited on 10/21/2006]
If you're thinkin about getting one of the limited Core 2 Quads coming out next month, and you have the money, I'd say go ahead and go for it. There's no reason not to.

Posted by: Recon Number 54I'm not sure, but Vista is supposed to be that "flexible" and since this game is not an XP-Vista hybrid, it may be able to make Vista-specific requests that the OS do that sort of "processor segregation" in order to allow H2V to get the most out of the core that it uses. You're kinda makin things up there. It'll be single core'd and there's nothing that can make a single core do better unless it works with another core. Simply having Vista wont add instruction sets into the architecture of the chip.
