Subject: What will my Halo FPS be?

Well I have my new computer. My halo disc is broken so I will be getting a new one from a friend on Wednesday. With my new rig:

2.4ghz core 2 duo
2048mb XMS2 800mhz (pc6400) ram
Nvidia GeForce 7900GTO 512MB
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Motherboard
Hiper Award Winning 580W PSU
250GB SATA IDE Hard Drive

What do you think my FPS in halo will be on:

a) 1152 x 864 Full settings on?
b) 640 x 480 All Lowest settings?

I can play Battlefield 2142 on all full settings at 100fps constant at 1152 x 864 (It doesn't allow over 100 for some reason. I can play Counter Strike: Source on all full settings at 200fps at 1152 x 864.

Here is a video, although the quality is kinda screwed by the crap compression:

I think this is a stupid thing to ask as no one knows anything about performance for H2V.

Err, will you be playing with or without vsync? I'm guessing without, otherwise, this topic would be pointless, but you do know, however, that past a certain framerate (a safe number to use would be 100), the human eye can't tell the difference, right? Anyway, I've never played Halo PC with an amazing video card like yours (or even a good one for that matter). The best I've played on is a GeForce 6600 LE, so I have no guess as to what framerates you're going to get.

thats a beautiful rig you got there Nessy.

i got the best AMD processore i forget what its called.. and a 7600 geforce gt and i play counter strike on all high 1240x960 and i get 300 -blam!- FPS Halo i think i get like 150-200 and the "Demo" of 2142 i got 175 constant. So seeing as how you got -blam!-nig cour duo you should get 150-250 i'd say depending on lag.

Just a question but How much did you computer cost? Mine cost $2000 something with 128watt speaker system keyboaard and Razor Mouse, also a 19" LCD 1080 HD screen :) plus a bunch of other internal -blam!- that im to lazy to list off.

£900

It is like £1 to $1.8 i think

Yeah my proc owns, along with my card and ram.

Also when playing BF2142 it limits me to 100fps for some reason, I tihnk I must have v sync turned on. Either that or you are wrong.

I think you'll be able to run it at 1280 X 1024 settings maxed at 75 FPS no problem.

I can run halo at 1600x1200 and maintain 100+ most of the time and nessy's rig is a little b it better.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

LOL, another thread with Nessy's new specs. lololololol

Nessy: put up your 3dmark06 score and prepare to be let down.

Not at Vsync, I think. I don't know of a monitor that can show past 100 FPS, so excuse my ignorance if there are.

You put a 105mb file in your original post for us to DL so we can marvel at your new PC....and you can't download a simple 3d benchmarking program? It's not to "check you specs." You actually get a score that can be compared to others.

Also, I do not understand your last sentence.

if i had a normal single core processor, my computer would still be placed in the top 1% of computers

3dmark06 is over 500mb.

Mental problems and making the point that no one knows anything about what you want to know except for bungie/microsoft employees who don't visit this forum at all are two different things. People can only give you guesses, and not very good ones at that. No one has a final vista, and no one has H2V, nor the requirments for it.

Not being a fan or follower of Nvidia, I don't know how an Nvidia GPU will react to Halo. Last time I tried to set it up on a computer running Nvidia it wouldn't play it. Try full on first and if it doesn't like that just step it down until you find a sweet spot.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I'm pretty sure without VSync, you'll get over 100 fps with everything turned on. Though I recommend having VSync on, it's much smoother.

My x850xtpe PC was top 1% too...big deal. That M$ test is worthless. Try 3DMark01 if you are concerned about size. It's about 40mb.
