There've been a few topics recently relating to the PC's we use to play the game.

Most of us here have upgraded video at least. What I was wondering was the preference for the type of graphics card we use. Personally mine's an ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128MB, and I prefer ATI graphics to Nvidia. What about the rest of you out there?

I'd have to say Nvidia, because those are pretty much the only cards I prefer. I'm getting my Nvidia GeForce FX5500 in two weeks.

First of all do you read the news? Anything? Becuase if you did you would know that ATI was bought out buy AMD so... yeah.

Anyways i prefer Nvidia becuase the 7600 Geforce GT and 7900 Geforce GT are pretty much better than every ATI card out there. But im not saying that all ATI's suck.

I'd say ati was better basically because HDR and AA can be enabled at the same time unlike nvidia's, however nvidia does make some good cheap cards (7600gt) unlike ati which has no real GOOD mid-range cards.

First, I have a Mac, so wtf do I know. I've got an ATI, top of the line for my slightly older Mac, and it does a nice job. It can run a 30" monitor– if only I could afford a 30" monitor.

Why would being bought by AMD be bad? From what I've read in this forum, AMD is prfered for CPUs for gaming. You'd think they'd make their video boards as well as their CPUs, right?

On ATI, the active cammo works. Not to mention my magiks 9550 that I got for $25, and can run pretty much any game at basic settings, unlike some other cards that can only run 1/3 games at high settings.

I'm not interested in what people think they know. I was simply curious about personal preference. And if ATI was bought out by AMD, all the better. I prefer AMD processors anyway. And besides, ATI is still ATI, and will always be ATI regardless of who they're affiliated with.

ATI handles pixel shaders alot better than NVIDIA, but NVIDIA has a better price-to-performance ratio, and has more of a name.

They both have their pros and cons.

Whichever has the best price/performance. Right now, that stands to be ATI. Although If you've got a lot of money to kill (and I don't know why anyone in their right minds would spend so much money instead of simply wait for the DX10 cards to come out), nVidia has the 7950GX2, which outperforms any single card out there.

Nvidia, best bang for your buck, develops quality technology faster than ATi, fast, better at overclocking, and will have the first DX10 card on the market.

nvidia FTW!

Tell that to my 7300 GS! AA and HDR is no problem.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Cool, the results are 50/50.
It really depends on the card at the time, and what I'm using it for. ATI's always been more gaming oriented, while Nvidia's been top choice for 3D animators. I'm going with ATI because they know how to hang on to the PCI market, which is shrinking.

You know I'm drunk if I'm replying in here. I have to respond to a post that said that AMD was better for gaming. Yes it was. BUT if the new Intel chips that are coming out are true to what they are saying AMD is in trouble. The Intel chips are faster on benchmarks AND are running cooler while putting up those numbers. AMD needs to answer soon or they will lose the only sector they were winning, the gaming sector.

IMO AMD will make a come back, the conroe is a "next gen" processor, and AMD's current processors are not. Wait until AMD releases their next chip, currently called "4x4"

Then we will see. The Quad Core Kentsfeild (basically 2 conroe chips in one) vs AMD's "4x4" technology.
