Mac and Windows aren't really all that different either. It's like putting an Irishman and an Englishman next to each other, if your not Irish or English, you won't notice a difference at all. However prepare to get your ass handed to you if you ever call an Irishman an Englishman. The differences are only readily apparent if you are Irish or English, anyone else just sees two british guys. I'm using that analogy because I'm Irish and I HAVE handed people thier asses for calling me English.

Really? I thought you were Russian. Nevermind about The Party.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

Thing is they don't use a proper Geforce 6200, they use one of those cheapo turbocache edtions, which basically use the same principals as an integrated card, by always sharing system RAM when gaming, so they WILL be slow. Why Tom's Hardware don't just use a straight vanilla 6200 i don't know, it'd perform MUCH better.

Also, looking at the performance with one game shows nothing, they should use 3DMark2006 and other games, because it may just be that Radeon's agree with the Source engine more than Geforces...

Geforces cant run the source engine in dx9, only ATI cards can.

I demand proof. It sounds like a bunch of crap. And it probably is.

Is there a place to compare a Radeon 9250 and a Radeon 9550?

No, i didn't get pwned, you're just ignorant. You would by any chance be trying to run the game on a Geforce FX card now would you? Those cards don't fully support DX9, just a cut down of Shader Model 2.0. Reason you can run other games in "DX9 mode" is because the FX cards had Shader Model 2.0, so most games assumed that your card could cope, while most of the time they couldn't.

If you had actually LOOKED at the link i posted, rather than type blindly on, you would see that Geforce FX cards resort to DX8, while anything from a Geforce 6200 onwards defaults to Shader Model 3.0 DX9 mode, using the Source engine.

I'm not trying to flame you, i'm just trying to make you realise that what you think is true, is completely wrong. Happens all the time in life i'm afraid.

Valve programmed Half Life 2 to default to DirectX 8 shaders on all GeForce FX hardware (Geforce 5 Series). FX cards wouldn’t run Valve’s DirectX 9 path even when DX9 was specified in the console, even though the high-end cards of the FX Series are DX9 compatible. But all Geforce 6 cards and upwards Can run the game in DX 9.

ATI has the upperhand on the Source Engine, however Nvidia performs much better on games running the Doom3 Engine (Quake 4,Doom3 etc..).

Though it is a bad time buying a DX9 graphics cards with DX10 on the corner. Or if you don't have the $$ for DX10, then wait for it to release and the DX9 cards will come down in price, a lot.

OOOOWWWWWNNNNNTTTTT!!!!!!Q!

If you need anything to tide you over untill DX10, get a budget or mid-range Nvidia GeForce 7 card, Mine can do everything I have to thoow at it, and that is a lot.

EDIT: Except show Camo in Halo PC, Thanks to the horrid porting.
