Subject: Bungiue do this for us...

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

An active user by my definition would be someone who logs into Bungie.net and then either posts in a chapter or main forum. If so, I would say that there are about 500,000 active members.

As if Yoozel would be dumb enough to post a pic of himself without clothing. He'd probably get one of the better looking mods to do it for him.

Like Shishka.

Prognatus Archos

Here is the same answer I gave the last time someone asked this.

* on the Internet contain adult content that is not suitable for children or people with sensitive dispositions.
* and to ensure your children do not post images of themselves,

The answer to that question, as is with many other questions involving member privileges, is the policy. The restriction on posting images is part of an offspring of the bungie.net policy/code of conduct. What they are trying to avoid is the posting of inappropriate/ explicit content on the forums. In addition they do not want the younger members of the community, whose parents may have reservations on them posting pictures of themselves; to be able to give out identifying content. Finally one of the lesser reasons would have to be the drag on processing power, and bandwidth. These forums are not only for those of us with super computers, but they are also for those who have older models. If everyone could post images in their signatures, and in their posts then it would take ten minutes or longer for those with older computers, or low speed connections, just to load a simple thread. There is no reason to have unloadable images...

Reasons
The population of the community would be cut drastically by...

* Concerned parents would take their children off because they do not want them posting images of themselves.

* Users with slower computers would suffer because it takes significantly longer to load the images, and flash videos in everyone’s signatures. As a result many of them would leave.

* There would be inappropriate content everywhere. Many people would be offended, and would leave.

Additional reasons
In addition...

* The images, and videos would be distracting.
* Spam would rise to levels using offensive content.
* Even those with faster connections would notice a change in load time.

The only things I see coming out of allowing people to post images, are bad bad effects.

Okay sorry I did not ready EVERY post here, I read most though, and that site could cope with huge ammount of trafic if it had suitable servers, but it would not be used (vBulletin) by bungie because its a lot more complex for users and does not have built in .net passport (or whatever they are calling it now).

Anyway you COULD allow images IF you only let Xbox Live GOLD subscribers have custom images, why do I say that? If they were to then abuse the system they could have say a 3 warnings then they get banned from Halo 2/Xbox Live. Of course to activate the feature here would require input of one piece of say card information (say 5, 6 ,7 numbers in card number) to accept that they can be banned from Live if they abuse. Also then spammers can't upload images without buying a new Live Subscription..

If you did not want to ban from live, just ban that account here, and they could not re register the same Live Account to their bungie login, stopping them from uploading images again.

EDIT:

Or let XBL members use thier gamer pictures, thats a bit more individual than the choice now, and you know they are safe without need to moderate or worry.

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

Do you seriously want an Emo like Yooze posting pictures of himself? He's probably try to get his hair all flippy like the cutties on Myspace....Emospace.

It's possible to hire, or assign, some people to look at everyone's avatar for approval. There'd be guidelines. We (the members) would follow these guidelines, then send in our avatar for approval. Mods could do it, or Achronos could promote certain members to the "Avatar Approval Team," where those certain members would become an "Avatar Approval Team Member."
