I’m a halo PC player and I am curious to know why Bungie have failed to update their servers to detect and disable the notoriously used aimbot. Certainly you’re aware and certainly without question you guys have done little to stop the outlandish cheating in Halo that has caused many loyal players to the game to quit. Many of us who play legitimately are upset and we want something to be done. In versions 1.02 and version 1.04 the aimbot doesn’t work, why that is, I couldn’t tell you. Although in the most updated version (v1.07) the aimbot is able to be used by virtually anyone! If the aimbot cannot be used in version 1.02 and 1.04 then why can’t the same governing principles of honorable yet legitimate play be applied to the most updated version? I’m just tired of being killed by cheaters and I’d like something to be done.

Practice your aiming, so that when it does finally get fixed you'll have an aimbots proficency without an aimbot.

Ach! Was ist los?

Support for the PC version of Halo falls to Gearbox, not Bungie.

Unfortunately, Gearbox seems to be too busy milking Brothers in Arms to do much for HPC now.

Actually, you are quite wrong there. Support of Halo is the decision of Bungie. Gearbox can't do a damned thing to their game unless Bungie says they do.

I think what he means is that only Gearbox can do anything for Halo.

Sorry mate you were denied the ability to correct a ninja...it just wasn't your day.

No, judging from his sarcasm, he meant Gearbox could make decisions for HPC; it can't. Bungie told them what they can and cannot do, and, as you can see, they care so much about the game that you can't even find it listed on the side toolbar anymore. Also, when's the last time Bungie ever featured mods/maps/websites for the HPC community? If there is someone who is in charge of doing an update, it would be Bungie giving Gearbox the OK to do so.

Also, the aimbot was due to a leak from Bitterbanana's Zelda cam project, which, in its beta stage, locked onto targets with leading included. There is nothing as a community as a whole can do; what, do you expect us to magically make a program like Anti-Cheat? Sure, just let me fire up the ol' programming crapolla and start making me a program that would deal with the mess of HPC's netcode! It also only works for 1.07 because that's what Bitter was beta'ing for. Of course, he did not mean for it to be leaked, and on his site he provides a link to a fake aim bot which, when the program is ran, flips the screen upside down.

Of course, I don't know the full details about Bitterbanana's involvement, and I'm sure someone from Gearbox will correct me.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Not trying to be difficult, but doesn't it behoove Bungie/M$ to pressure Gearbox into action? It's easy to play the blame game, what have you done personally as a Bungie rep. to motivate Gearbox?

No, support of Halo on any platform falls to Bungie. I dont see how you can possibly think it's GBX's responsibility, seeing how there's no contract for them to do so. Trust me, if Gearbox could do things like that, there wouldn't be a need for H2V. Gearbox was simply contracted to do the work specified by Bungie. If there are going to be any updates to PC/CE, Bungie will have to do it themselves or contract someone else to do so.

There was a big thing a few years back (around the time of New Mombassa Classic) where Gearbox said they'd try to get Bungie to ok an update if CE got to 1,000 players. It got there, but Bungie said no.

That's odd. You're talking to halo PC players, asking them to fix the game, wondering why they won't fix it, because you, and many others, being halo PC players are getting annoyed by it not being fixed.

HPC is dead, in terms of official support. Just report botzorz to the server admins, and they'll get banned pronto. Eventually, botters get sick of being yelled at/banned, and give up.

HPC is NOT supported by bungie. Its supported by gearbox, end of discussion. Period. As we can well see by the beautiful netcode, bungie had extremely little to do with HPC.

You're soo wrong, it's hilarious. GBX has nothing to do with the game other than saying 'yeah, we ported that under a contract'. You can thank Bungie for the beautiful netcode. What you're claiming is like saying that the companies contracted to build the world trade centers in NYC are responsible for cleaning up the wreckage. Just because you're contracted to make something doesn't mean you're contracted to maintain it.

you need to read this:
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=23466&a mp;highlight=Bungie
and
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=1413&am p;highlight=Bungie

I'll point out some of the key points in relevance to this thread as stated by Randy himself. Actually, no, I'll just quote one thing:

Microsoft is responsible for future maintenance on the game, so its up to them now to fix and patch that one.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

We as gamers rly cant do much. the best that is being done is bitterbanana's anti-cheat system that i haventseen released yet, but we of the maw generally discourage the use of an aimbot.

Whatever, Bungie doesnt release patches for HPC. HPC was a crapshoot anyway by Gearbox, so everyones going to be putting the blame on the other company anyway. I still think its Gearbox, as they ported it, which bungie had extremely little to do with.

Yes, we all need a scapegoat in this society! Let's blame the people who aren't the ones who are truely responsible for the mess of HPC's netcode! How smart indeed!

Don't bother Zeph; I posted that in a thread awhile ago and people were just as willing to accept and read it as DivX was.

I read somewhere that a truth is only really true when it is believed by all. So, by that definition, Gearbox is only to blame for as long as we believe it.

So what you're saying is that we shouldn't be individuals and should all follow the hive mind then?

Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

As for the topic at hand: Bungie/Gearbox/Whoever hasn't made a patch to fix the aimbot and cheating problems because they don't support the game anymore. Face it, Halo's OLD! It would be pretty easy for them to write up a patch program and release it, but they don't because there's no point now. They're working on bigger and better things than to be worried about one old game with a fanatical following.

well, if you think about it... Starcraft is almost 10 years old, and it is still being updated! sure, it does have a larger fan base, but people are still buying halo pc. I'm quite sure that they could contract someone to create a cuple of updates to fix some little things *ie aim bot*

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

They, (MS, Bungie, Gearbox, Macsoft et al), have no incentive to fix or support Halo PC. They're coming out with a new version soon and they want you to spend your money on the new game.

Why pay a programmer to fix something that they want to fade away?
