Subject: The Halo 3 Forum????

Ok, sorry, I have two things to rant about, and I don't really see a solution. Also, I aplogize if this in the wrong spot. I sense this as a community issue so I put it here.

The halo 3 forum, though exciting when it opened, has turned into somewhat of a lawless location. Sure, they remain within the "Halo 3 topic", but there are so many repeated threads over and over. I'm probably not the first to post about this by the way. I know all the moderators hate the Halo 3 Forum, as do many other forum members, but is there something we can do to make it more "Friendly"?

The other issue at hand is the actual content in the Halo 3 Forum. This is a question that really isn't answerable. Why is there so much want? People want this, and that, and this, and that. I bet you half of the threads are about "What I want". I wasn't a member before Halo 2 came out, I joined shortly after, but I did surf the forums before hand. I didn't see half as much "I want this" topics. More speculation about what there would be. Anyhow, that's just my rant.

Discuss the first topic, or second one if you wish.

Yea, if I am not mistaken, this would be the correct forum. From my point of view anyway.

Yes, alot of threads are repeated in there, as in any other forums. The problem is that people do not know how to use the still new and hardly ever used search feature. To make it more "friendly" I honestly have no clue. I haven't gone there in about a year know, and trust me you don't want me to go in there.

As for the content, there is no reall stopping that. Greed is what drives society these days. Hardly nothing will stop that.

Of course there are a lot of repeat topics; they've made 920 pages of threads over a short trailer, an announcement, a couple of updates and 1 blurred picture of a map.

There's only a certain amount of ideas you can generate from the above materials, and that's probably why.

The flow is (I'd assume) almost too much to moderate "properly" and so I guess they're almost left to their own devices.

EDIT: Thank you, Mr Ninja, for deleting my other posts. :)

Exactly the problem, Data on Halo 3 is sparse. Only so much can be discussed about it with only limited details. You can't blame people for wanting to discuss Halo 3, but the topics are going to run in circles until we can get into the guts of the game itself.

Do you really think you are that much better than the people at the Halo 3 Forum? I mean, all this thread does is attempt to show how much more "superior" you are than somebody else in a different forum.

Use the Halo 3 forum if you want to discuss Halo 3. Don't just go creating threads to act better than other people and then post them in The Septagon.

Archra, you are missing the point of this thread. We are talking nothing about being "superior" to the halo 3 forum. I am not trying to sound rude and all, but please, do youself a favor, read the first post before you start posting.

Alright, so how does your post have anything to do with the original post?

If you don't like the content in the Halo 3 forum, then ignore it. There are a lot of people that apparently enjoy the Halo 3 forum, and they like it the way it is now. No need for any improvement.

You're missing the point. We aren't saying the people there are bad. We aren't saying we're superior. We're discussing how we can improve it, or what can be done to make it more friendly to many users.

New Mombasa was EXACTLY the same pre-Halo 2, just with less people in it.

Really, it is nothing to worry about, and fairly typical - people are into the game and care about how it is going to turn out. That's good - a sign of an engaged community. Hopefully these people will stick around after the game is released and contribute positively to the Bungie community as a whole.

For some reason I got a chuckle there. I haven't been to the halo 3 forums in a while, but last time I was there, it was just one huge flame war in there.

The few times ive visited this safe-haven of anticipation and immaturity ive been greated by a first-page consisting of 20 similar threads (for those who havent been there just think "swat ranked/unranked" in Optimatch). Official Bungie feedback is rare if not non-existant, atleast outside the stickies, so its basically a zilliion ppl blabbing about the same thing over and over again. The few times Halo 3 is discussed officially is in the news, which we all know is follwed by a discuss thread.

What the Halo 3 forum does though, and some ppl seem to forget about this, is that it brings more ppl to the community. Sure, a great deal of these just came to discuss H3 and are never leaving this forum but some might discover the rest of what Bungie has to offer.

I agree that the Halo 3 forum is definatly a place where people run rampant with their ideas flapping in the wind and fingers waving about like wet noodles. Occasionally there are "good" topics, but right now there are mostly topics that have been beaten to death; then flamed with the flamethrower and blown about with the leafblower. And to finish off those topics, they let their fingers flatulate more than a frat party on the night of graduation! I remember New Mombasa right after Halo 2 was released, it was insaine with more flames than Diablo's Rivers of Fire. I've never seen the pre-release forum for Halo 2, but I can guess that it was a mad house, a bit smaller though.

At least there are forums on B.net that are not "attacked" as much as the Halo 3 forum *or most others* like The Septagon or The Maw *Teh Mawzors FTW!*. Those are nice places to be in when things get out of hand.

PS, Recon, you just made yourself a place in my sig ^^

"You're never gonna fight me, I'll wipe the world away"

I would have to agree with some of you in this forum about the Halo 3 forum. I used to go to the Halo 3 forum nonstop and not even consider the others, but now that there is not much else to even consider in the Halo 3 forum, seeing as how there isnt anything to really talk about since we havent got any new information since May 9th, I dont even bother with the Halo 3 forum anymore, until Bungie decides to give us new info, which I hear is soon. :)

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

Flamation of the Halo 3 forum is like a way of life:

*Bungie releases Info*

*1-Million Fans start thinking*

*we then have 1 thousand pointless post*

*and 5 good, intelligable ones*

That's not true at all. :(

When I come in to moderate I usually work my way down the forums and then just sit in the Halo 3 forum reading. Sure there are a lot of repeat topics but that's because people are starving for information at the moment and hunger makes them get the crazy eyes. They're just finding things to talk about with what information they have at the moment. Also, there are new members arriving (who may ask repeat questions) that are excited but don't know their way around the site yet. Instead of shunning them as some of you seem to be doing, you could always lend them a helping hand by providing answers or finding an old thread of the same topic for them.

I do agree it would be nice if more people were patient in that forum but what can you do in this age of instant information.
