Sorry, but it looks to me you're ignorant about Halo's online experience.

Let me explain: Halo PC has an awful netcode. It's very laggy, and if somebody joins a game with a poor connection while everybody else has good connections, everybody lags. Lag, lag, lag. You just learn to deal with it, unless you're warping all over the place. Then you leave the server and just join another one.

Join low-ping servers.

Also, lag and frames per second are two different things; please do not get them confused or you shall suffer a curse of a thousand scorpions descending upon your home.

Graphics setting won't e/affect lag (damn English class screwed with my mind, Effect, or Affect?). Try not to run any background bandwith-using program when playing.

Effect, actually. Examples:

"My affection for Halo 2 is more or less of a hate-hate relationship."

"The general effect the Halo 2 marketing campaign had on people was one of drool and tripping over one's feet."

EDIT: Damn, shouldn't have written examples. :P

Effect, actually.

I can't believe you got that wrong; it's affect, not effect. Effect is a noun, affect is a verb. To affect something is to have an impact, to change it. An effect is the result of said change. Or something like that.

So is it Effect or Affect?

Anyway, we need to get back on topic.

What is your speed? Do you use DSL, Dial Up, Cable, T1, T3, or satellite (god forbid)?

Affect, actually. Ah, kim, always the forum -blam!-. Joking. Effect is used when describing something directly related to a cause, i.e. When taking "placebo," common side effects include dry nose, blah blah blah. Cause and Effect.

Affect is more of a tone word meaning to have an influence upon, used when saying stuff like "Will the lessons in class affect me" As for Aga's post up there, (sorry aga, but) affection is an entirely different word altogether, in the same way pillage does not have anything to do with pills, despite similar base words.

Right...now that that's out of teh way...

I would also check for any external apps that may be clogging up bandwidth. If you've got an IM program, a file-sharing app, (or mostly anything that communicates at short intervals with the internet running in the background,) you should probably turn it off, since that means less info going back and forth through your internet and therefore a faster connection. And finally, if you're using wireless, encrypt it or switch to a grounded connection, since others may be leeching wireless or packets are simply lost through wireless.

Hey, I tried to bring the topic back on topic every time I posted...

I don't think the OP is going to reply to any of our questions, but if he is still there, try forwarding ports 2302 and 2303...

And you might try port 80, but chances are it isn't going to help much.
