I'm sorry if this was already posted. Is there a flamethrower in Halo 2. MP or SP.

Stupidest idea ever....

A spartan could stand in the steam of Napalm and yawn. He's weaing a suit of environmental armour. It would take a dang long time for it to melt the metal or to overheat the poor man within.

How many people ask this question. I wonder. The fact is there will be no flamethrower. In one of the bungie interviews or articles, cant remember which one they stated that they had experminented with the flamethrower but scrapped it as it was too dificult to make it look and handle releistictly.

That was Halo 1, not Halo 2.

And those that think MJOLNIR armor could withstand the heat of napalm clearly don't know anything about napalm.

Yeah, it clearly states in the books, and plays so in the game, that you're far from invincible. (Though grunts may think different.) Just play any level that has fire in it, walk through the fire and tell me what happens. You get hurt. Bungie said they wouldn't do a flamethrower unless everything could be lit on fire.

I understand Napalm quite well. Napalm can attain temperatures of up to 800 degrees F. Today's envirnoment suits can safely handle 310 degrees F and that's a standard space suit, not a combative Mjolnir armour with shields designed 500 years from now.

Now, there's a Canadian Inventor named Troy Hurtubise, private citizen who has invented a substance that can insulate against temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees. The higher limits of his mixture haven't been determined and can withstand anything you throw at it...

umm... napalm must not be very hot then. i don't know the exact temprature for napalm, but i'm guessing its well over 800. a lighter i saw in a magazine burned at over 2500 degrees (or so it clamed, but that was in a police gear magazine so idk)

Napalm doesn't have to be "Hot". It needs to be sticky and difficult to put out. Soldiers don't run around in vaccum capable environmental armours. Without a sealed suit with it's own air supply 800 degrees would rob you of breathable oxygen in addition to melting your flesh- most horrific.

Concievably, one could make napalm hotter but there's really no value to it in today's world. If Spartan type armours were common they might work upon such a feat but that would make it even more instantly lethal against the Covenant who aren't into using sealed suits. The Flamethrower/Napalm Projector would be ridiculously overpowered.

Halo on PC/Mac had a Flamethrower. I don't see why Xbox shouldn't either.

Just to clear the air on the facts of napalm. this is from Janes information source. the group that factually compiles information for the militart:

"Developed by US scientists during World War II for use in flame throwers and weapons, napalm is a mixture of gasoline, benzene and a thickening agent.

It is easier to control and burns slower than gasoline. It also burns at a temperature of about 1,000C, compared to 675C for thickened gasoline - ensuring the required destruction of infected carcasses."

You obviously haven't played Halo for the PC on multiplayer. Flamethrower is a -blam!- on that. And remember celcius is alot hotter than ferenhyte.(spelling)

Yeah, plus have you ever stood in fire on POA? That somewhat hurts you and obviously you haven't played halo on the comp, since there IS a FLAMETHROWER in that.
