The idea of Halo 2 coming to Windows PC's is very exciting, and for those looking for some quick information, the stickied post above with the H2V FAQ is a great place to start. However, I have a couple of questions that I haven't seen covered. If anyone has any information on any of this that I might have missed, please let me know, and cite a source if possible.

1. Using Forge and Anvil, it was possible to create both single player campaigns and multiplayer maps for Marathon Infinity. Is Halo 2 Vista's map editor capable of creating single player campaigns along with the aforementioned multiplayer maps?

2. Will Halo 2 Vista be released in both standard and special editions, as was the case with the original Xbox release? Will the instruction manual be writtnen from the UNSC's or the Covenant's perspective? More impoprtantly, will the Converstaions from the Universe packet be included for the Vista release?

I know that these questions might seem a bit insignificant, but as an aspiring Bungie Scholar and Marathon Map Maker, this stuff is important. Keep me posted if you find something.

BTW, Ghosts of Onyx is great.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

For your first question:
The CMT mod team did make a campaign mod for Halo CE so I would assume it will be possible for H2V.

As for the standard and limited edition: I don't know.

I can say that I am dissapointed that it will not be out for the Commodore 64 as stated here. I would like to know why...

Sadly Bungie could not get the proper authorization to release it on the Commodore 64. Many many people were hoping for it to be released on it...

1. HEK could already do that in Halo 1 PC, so yes.

2. No one knows; if it isn't mentioned in the FAQ, then Bungie hasn't said anything about it yet.

3. If you need to ask a question that isn't covered in the FAQ, you can still ask there.

You can't say that. Bungie hasn't said what we can do besides create multiplayer maps.

Yes, I can say that. In numerous updates Bungie has said the tools will be like an update of HEK and then some. A few mappers asked questions about whether they'd still have all the customizations for it and Bungie answered with, "yes, and then some."

Good. That means that even when they screw up the game play, we can just fix it ourselves.

Nothing about single player. Its not a sure thing, which is why you can't say that. You can say it probably will, or that every indication points to it having it, but don't say it does without a quote saying there is singleplayer support.

Go read the HEK tuts. Begone. I have no time for this. Ask anyone at halo2vista.net; ask TheGhost if you want; ask Jesus himself. The tools will be the same with even more customization from HCE's HEK. They just talked about all the old tools in today's update.

Show me where they say they will be the same, or show me where they say singleplayer is supported, otherwise you begone.

Was that a serious question, Apoc? He was clearly joking.

But yes, it was quite humorous.

I don't see either. I see

What will be the extent and limitations of what players will be able to build?

David: The end-user will be provided with everything needed to create custom multiplayer maps, complete with new textures and it even lets you customize shaders from Halo 2.

and I see them using the same names, but it never say they will be the same, other than general function.

http://halo2pc.org/news/2006/08/22/bungie_halo_2_vista_mapmak ing

* Looks like they are still using some version of the Halo PC map editing tools like Guerilla, Sapien, and Tool. This should give a leg up to the modding/mapping community.
* "The end-user will be provided with everything needed to create custom multiplayer maps, complete with new textures and even customizable shaders from Halo 2." - Mertz
* "The plan from the beginning has been to release the tools, tutorials and examples with the retail release of the game" - Mertz
* "With Halo 2 Vista, the tools are available right out of the box. This means that they are both officially supported by Microsoft and will have gone through all the testing, localization, and usability scenarios that is required for a professional software release." - Mertz
* "Not only will the tools be dramatically more user-friendly, they'll also be much more stable and polished." - Mertz
* "We really look forward to seeing what new content will be created, not just for the casual player, but for the competitive and tournament Halo 2 Vista communities." - Mertz

If you're still saying no after that, then go ahead and ask at h2vista.net and behold how everyone will tell you that you will be able to. HEK's tools were labeled with "multiplayer map making" in mind, and yet CMT modded the hell out of the single player. Want to know why? Read on carefully now! Because each level in the single player campaign is read as a .map file. :O

You can't say it will support single player because it hasn't been stated that it will. H2vista.net is no more than a fan site and has no more reliable information than right here at bungie.net. You apparently missed my argument.

You can eat your own words once it comes out. Oh, and "just a fan site?" The site is home to two members who work for Bungie, with one who is working on H2V; please, if you want to find out anything about either PC games, that is the place to go. The bulk of good map makers make their birth there.
