Well, this is a bit of a personal question as well, but what ever. The title explains all, do you think Halo 2 Vista will support 64 bit arcitecture (please don't correct my spelling).

Basicly my entire PC is crap, except for the fact that I have a 64 bit sempron. So I have two choices, all of the details up on a piece of -blam!- resolution. Or all my specs down with a high resolution. So it would be in my best intrest if Halo 2 Vista supported 64 bit prossesing so I can get both, it would literaly give me almost twice the power. But the problem is, I've never played a games that uses 64 bit.

I think they'll do it because Vista is a 64 bit operating system so why not.

Then why post a question in the freaking subject?

Will H2v support 64 bit micro prossesors?

Of couse it will support 64 bit, but it will most likely (90% chance, as we dont know yet) that it will only use 32 bits of the 64. And vista supports BOTH btw...

Easily over half the market still uses 32 bit, and if they make it require 64 bit they are canceling out half of the potential buyers. Not a good move.

Stop flaming him. Man you people are jerks sometimes.
Yeah, guys WTF...

The guy already posed the question in the FAQ (which was answered there) and then acts like this was supposed to be a discussion thread when he answers his own question; sorry, but I have very short patience for ignorance.

"Ignorance can be fixed, stupidity is forever"
-Some guy who's name I forgot

Or is the other way around (in that case I'm insulting myself)....

Anyway, I checked the FAQ, theres NOTHING there about 64 bit prossessing so please, shut up. IF you don't like the topic then leave, you don't have to pick on the poor little guy to show your supirority.

The reason this topic is here is because there are practicly no games on the market that suport 64 bit arcitecture, stuff like doom and half-life are the only ones I can name. Why is this, because most people don't have a 64 bit cpu. So, the debate here is weather bungie (or the company that there letting work on it) will include the extra time so that the game will work for both 32 and 64 bit CPU's.

Don't tell me to shut up because your inferior mind cannot see it. Just because there isn't a question that specifically asks for it doesn't mean it's not answered. That's why I said to use some common sense, which you obviously have not. This isn't a "superiority" thing, so take your poor assumptions elsewhere.

Dudes, chill out. Jeez, did everyone wake up on the b*tchy side of the bed today?

FarCry is a game that is several years old by now, and I just found out a few months ago that it supports 64bit processors when I installed it on my compy. So yes, I believe Vista and Halo 2 will support 32, and 64 bit processors.

And Agamemnon, don't you be using the common sense clause. Because common sense dictates that you get more bees with honey than with vinegar. Meaning calling someone inferior minded does nothing to promote your position.

The most uncommon thing in the world is common sense. And you don't have enough of a stockpile to make comments like that.

Hey now you listen here! Just because your new and you might be a little bit more educated than us gives you know right to bash people because of it. If you're not going to be humble than you can gtfo!

If he did say something redundent or stupid then humor him a little. If there is one thing I can't stand its people who think they know everything and they are never wrong.

So either play nice or Shut the -blam!- up because I WILL NOT stand by and let you insult people like that. No one deserves that.

I can see there's plenty of assumptions to go around this place. My favorite part is where I have yet to patronize the both of you when ever you've gone off on a member like this. For shame, though, when I do it because he's called me out.

Actually Aga, unless a post or two was deleted from the topic, you were the instigator of this little skirmish. He didn't "call you out".

Windows 7 64bit

Ok, stop, i want NO Gamespot imitations on Bungie.net, please guys. I used those forums for over a year and it was nothing short of horrific most of the time. Bungie.net's populace seems a very reasonable, mature group, the whole lot of you, so please, calm down. Ok this guy did ask a bit of a stupid question, big deal, that's NOTHING to what happens on Gamespot/GameFAQ's. Over there, you get noobs going "Is Halo coming out for the PSP?" and "Halo sux: discuss" and "I want Microsoft to kiss my p****" and "Vista is for noobs, lets kill Bungie!" and so on and so forth. Let's all keep Bungies space clean :)

Ya, I'm gunna go with Dragon on this, I've seen the gamespot forums. Actually I've seen alot of forums like that. And I gotta agree, this one is one of the few good ones.

I say we set a precedent today.

Agamemnon, I apologize for going schitzoid.

Meh, I apologize for making such a big deal about it. As Dragon has pointed out, one thing you will quickly get to know about me is that I have zero tolerance for things like this, especially when they've been answered twice and by the person themselves. It's all fine if the person doesn't truely know, but something like this reminds me of the oh-so famous question of, "Will Halo 2 come out for XP as well?"

Sigh, aside from all these other thoughts in this thread, having a 64bit CPU wont help the fact that it's still a sempron. Going from 32 bits to 64 bits is NOT going to allow you to max both the res and the details. I do not know where you got that idea from, as that is mainly the GPU's responsibility. The only time a cpu would affect it if it was bottlenecking the GPU in which case a faster CPU would be better, not changing to 64 bits. Although 10 years from now it may be much different.

Heyyo,

My guess would be yes, it will have a 64bit version of the game since Bungie claims H2V will take full advantage of DX10 capabilities, and to truly do so, would be add 64bit app support... hopefully even multi-threaded for them good ol' dual core cpus (and of course, upcoming Quad Core CPU's next year).

Btw, current 64bit enabled games are...

Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay
Unreal Tournament 2004
Far Cry
Half Life 2 (singleplayer, not mp or CSS or other mods...)
Shadow Ops
Dreadgnoughts (dunno spelling, not sure if it's out yet...)

... probably others, but that's all that pops to mind for now.

[EDIT1]
Oh, and I forgot to add...

So he asked a question. I say a legit one, since I did a search for 64 (as in 64bit) in the H2V FAQ and all I found was a mention that H2V will sadly, not work for the Commodore64 system. :(

I also tried the good ol' google system of search.
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rl s=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_s&q=64bit+site%3Ahttp%3A %2F%2Fwww.bungie.net%2FForums%2F&btnG=Search&meta=

nothing. Just other people's questions. And aga, if you wish to prove us wrong, let's see a quote from the H2V FAQ and a link to exactly where it is instead of flaming, which btw, if you ever visited the PP Forums which I moderate, would've taken out the PP Septor of pain, and... well, yeah, kinda obvious where it goes from there. :)

Btw folks, that's one of the main reasons I don't visit here no more.. I've moved up the ranks of a bigger forum, and now moderate the FPS section. Pure Pwnage baby. ;)

Think about it, the CPU drives everything. Before the CPU can prossess anything it has to fetch the data. 32 bits is a fair amount, but if you can get 64 bits your fetching twice the amount of data. Even though I only have a sempron and it still kindof sucks the extra 64 bits might not help too much with my graphics but it can handle other prosses and aplications better giving the CPU more room to play games. Games arn't all in the graphics card, there are other things that the CPU has to do too.

Note:Ya I know, I have no idea what the -blam!- I'm talking about. Thats just why I thought it would help.
