And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

In........................................................Out .

Just wondering, if it's alot, I might need a RAM upgrade or not, and I might need to put some stuff on cds.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

well since xp took up a significant more ammount of memory then 2000 or other previous operating sytems i think you will need at least 512mb of ram and at least a 2gig procesor. smoothly

When Vista comes out, the computers built for it will ALL be able to run H2 vista (I hope) efficiently with crisp graphics.

not all of them will. the more expensive ones *$1,000+* will run it very nicely, on the other hand the cheap computers you see advertised will not run it so good.

ONLY 1 GIG?! Man I was way off. Ah well, might as well clean up my computer's space anyway.

When he said 1Gb i think he meant 1G of RAM and not Hard Drive space tbh.

The specifications from Microsoft say:-

You can RUN Vista on:

* A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
* 512 MB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

However:

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at LEAST:

* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
* 1 GB of system memory.
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
* 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
* DVD-ROM Drive3.
* Audio output capability.
* Internet access capability.

The minumume requeirement s is 512 mb's. Hopefully there going to use your RAM for the good of man this thime instead of having it just suck up all the speed on your PC.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

I wouldnt run XP on anything less than 512 megs of ram and even then, it's still too less. 512 to run vista is pure crap, It lags to hell on my laptop with a gig(though the processor isnt anything special and neither is the graphics card).

Do shut up! You have a 7900 in that laptop I thought????

Anywho, 1g is going to be the real world minimum, and it's funny cause M$ has also stated registered memory is recommended. Of couse like 1% of PCs uses registered ram, the s940/s603/s604 systems designed for servers/workstations.

Even then, I think your laptop would still have trouble operating Vista at 512 MB. But what the hell do I know?

im guessing a lot... but im no expert...

im probably going to have to update my memory and get a better video card befor installing vista... but its going to be fRIGGIN SWEET

  • 11.02.2006 2:56 PM PDT

go to the vista website and you can download a program called "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor". It will scan your computer and tell you if you computer is up to it. I got it and learned that I can get the premium version, even though my broke ass can't afford it.

XP would struggle on that

Eeeehhhh?! My old, old Emachines runs XP just fine:

733MHZ Pentium II
160mb RAM
4.2Gb HDD Space
Intel internal video card, 8mb (I think it only supported like DirectX 4 or 5.

btw, that computer is 12 years old now. The hard drive finally gave out a month or two ago though, and seeing no further use for this computer (as I have 2 other, more modern ones), I threw it out finally. I grew up with that computer. It will be missed.

How much RAM and Hard drive space will the Vista take up?

Why do you call it "the Vista"? It's VISTA! Not the Vista.

I dunno why, but calling it "The Vista" really arouses my ire.

  • 11.03.2006 2:22 PM PDT

What it is.

i dual boot with Vista RC1 and it turns out, no joke, XP actually uses up more RAM than Vista does, when i run Vista i usually have 1,400 MB free, and when i use XP i usually get like 1,200 free....but once i run a game on XP it goes up to about 1,500MB free..to me it's not that different from XP...and registered memory is supposed to be better but where did they say that it was recommended?

No way, Vista RC2(which I use) uses up way more ram than XP ever did(external programs not included).

  • 11.03.2006 10:24 PM PDT

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

Oh Vista WILL use more RAM, but it will utilise the RAM in your system better. In other words, it will take longer to boot up, but after that it'll go mega fast!

Megafast? When I tried it, it ran slower than XP did.

Vista is a memory hog. I have the current beta and it needs at least 512 meg.s of ram, and is more than twice the size of vista. I would recoment having at least a gig of ram and at least an 80 gig hard drive to run this program. And don 't expect to play Halo 1 on Vista. It doesn't work, MSN knows it doesn't work, and it hasn't been fixed in 2 months. As a matter of fact, none of my XP compatible games work on Vista. MSN has done a great job of creating a program that has more incompatibility problems than XP did when it first came out. Hopefully Halo 2 Vista will actually run.
