I am looking for a low-resource media player that won't kill my framerate when playing Halo. I heard that WinAmp was good for this. Any suggestions?

It works, but it kills my frame rate. I didn't experience issues before I downloaded 11 in June however...

Heyyo,

*clears throat*

"WINAMP! (*echoes* WINAMP-WINAmp-winamp...) it really whips, the lama's ass!"

the first thing you hear when ya fire that baby up the first time. Heavens no, hell yeah. (Bloodhound gang plug ftw). And yes, winamp theme, qft.

I do warn ya, Half Life 1 and the Source Engine (used for HL2, CSS, etc) don't really like winamp when songs are changing, works fine during some halo-age. ;)

If you currently used windows media player 10, and want a smooth transition... none other than the nullsoft media player skill shall do the trick so nicely. :)

So yes, WinAmp comes ThE_MarD approved.

I love winamp, best ever. I didn't have to lower a single setting.

Foobar is great but a lot of people can't be bothered to learn all the ins and outs of the program...and I don't really blame them. The only reason I can use it (and enjoy using it) is because I had some help in downloading all the needed plugins and editing the config...and even then it's taken several hours of tweaking to get it the way I like.

For ease of use and fairly low system resources (compared to itunes and wmp), it's hard to beat.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I use WMP all the time and it doesn't pwn my framerate. In fact I see no difference on integrated. Winamp is pretty good. Try mplayer2 though if you're feeling bold.

What do you need it for? If its music, iTunes work for me. Anyway if WMP worked for you before 11, just roll back to 10.
