They believe the mods over you, rather than 'the mods are always right'

Truthfully, I've never read the blacklisting screen (that jerk Tinman blacklisted me from Frankie's group that one time, but I never really looked at the screen), but I must admit that phrase is horrible. It actually goes against everything I've ever said while I've been a moderator.

So moderators are sometimes unknowingly in the wrong when they blacklist someone?

How ironic.

I was searching the depths of Bungie.net again (I <3 you Search Feature) when I found This thread. Keep in mind, this was a couple hours ago, before this thread was made.

How coincidental O_o

Anyway, it was a good read. The Blacklist was intended to be a system where you could appeal your ban and whatnot. However, based on how it's seen today, that message is a tad harsh. It gives you little hope of even trying if you think you're wrongly accused.

I was back here late 2004, with my other account. The funny thing is, that back then, all the other older people were concerned about the same things most people worry about now. I guess it will always be that way.

As for the blacklisting screen, I have only seen is once, and that was when DS went crazy, D:
I would overhall the screen, changing that text.

SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

yeah, the one time I was blacklisted, I wanted to scream everytime I saw it. Instead, I discussed the issue (not the text, the ban) with Achronos, and realised, yeah seven days is not a big deal. I do agree that it seems wrong, but most peeople looking at that screen truly deserve it, maybe we should change it to "We will side with them more often than you" or something to that effect.

I agree that most people deserve it. Mabey the text could be something like, "We trust the mods more then you", in some sort of bungie twist. Unless that is what the text is now, a bungie twist on niceness?

I'm hungry for some ham.

Wham bam, ham in a can.

It's sometimes not an easy job to moderate a forum. What tends to happen no matter what the size of the forum is that different moderators have different interpretations of the rules. Having said that moderators are chosen for one reason because they always uphold the integrity of the site.

Take it from me, some one who's been banned for what seemed like a trivial thing on more then one occasion. You'll get over it.

If being offended is your biggest concern whilst blacklisted, I would sort out my priorities ;)

I agree it could be nicer and more proffessional but alot of the fun had here on Bnet comes from pretty unstructured, lenient discussions and such.

If it was me, I would just leave it because I see it as nitpicking (not to undermine you, Johnrap, I just hoenstly see it as a minor concern when faced with some of the other issues on this site).

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

Keep in mind, Pezza, that this issue is easy to fix. I guess it could go either way, but it's probably quite simple to change.

Though I know I hate it when people ask me to change small, pointless things on their websites that nobody would care about, I would think a little differently if I were an administrator of a site that gets thousands upon thousands of hits a day. Granted, I suppose they deserve to see some ugly words when they've done something retarded, but still.

I agree. (EDIT: <~ with Pezza. Not that Armatik doesn't have a point too.)

After I posted it I started to think of a line I've used myself many time, "Do you want Bungie spending time managing your emotions or making Halo 3 awesome?"

I want Halo 3 awesome.

So this thread is pointless and the Topic Creator is a jerk.

I laff!

This thread is a little springboard though, when you think about it. It reminds us of how Bungie is still a small community at heart, but in body has nearly 2 million accounts.
To me (I'm probably over analysing here) this issue shows how the community requires more 'official' interaction in order to maintain the image it has created of itself with the lighthearted humour to and from the employees themselves. Instead of little messages like this simply becoming relics to the old Bungie.net of pre-H2.

Ah well take what you want from it, I'm not asking for anything, I just see what I want to see.

The blacklist screen isn't there for you to have something to look at while on vacation. It's there to remind you in the ugliest way that you did something wrong so that you will remember it later.

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

there is such an easy and simple way to fix this.

dont get black listed.

it sucks. I know.

(I got blacklisted for 7 days, for asking for Scans...A very dumb thing to do on my part)

But I got over it.

and I did read that ENTIRE blacklisting page when I got banned...so yea...

I do admit though, that it could be slighty turned down.

like "We almost always agree with the Mods".

I've also taken my grievances to Achronos. He tends to say something like, "First, talk to the person who banned you." But that to me seems unproductive. I mean, they already banned me, they obviously agree with the banning or they wouldn't have banned me in the first place.

You should always ask the moderator in question why you were banned.

Perfect example: I was once accidently banned by a moderator a few months ago. Now I could have sat and stewed about it for a week, but I honestly didn't know why I was blacklisted. So I PM'ed the mod and he told me it was a mistake.

Granted, that kind of stuff never happens. But I was grateful that he was honest (as he told a Master Moderator about the goof up so he could unblacklist me) as opposed to thinking "This could make me look bad. If I don't reply, I can get away with it because they'll believe me over him every time."

So the system does work. Now I know not a lot of people are mistakenly banned, but if you believe you were wronged, a PM will at least show you what the error in your ways were.

Never been blacklisted so its kinda hard to relate. Perhaps it could be restructured a little. Something to the point of where its violent enough to get the point across that what you did was wrong and will not be tolerated but at the same time not such a blunt force that you are literally knocked out of your fan-dom.

I look at the prison system(lesser offenses). It is meant to punish you for your crimes while at the same time giving you the sense of wanting to get rehabilitated and become a productive member of the community.

Or maybe its fine the way it is.

That does sound a little.... arrogant, for lack of a better term. Kind of dominant, that's a better word, dominant.
