For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

http://www.GamesInAction.com

Well I've been hanging out at many freelance forums lately, most of them use vBulletin. I recently got this thing called a warning, because I accidently double posted. It says it was given out by a moderator, and that if I were to get, say, 20 warnings then I would be banned for 1 or 2 days. If I got 50, I would get 7 days blacklisted. If I got a whole lot of warnings, I can't remember the exact numbers, I'd be permabanned.

I think this is a great system, because it automatically sends a PM to the person that was warned, and then there is a small little warnings counter/tally thing to show how many times this person has been warned. It can be turned off, but I think because people like to know who they can trust and who they can't, they like to see if the little 13 year old designer has been a good little boy on the forums.

This would be preferable to the warning moderators give in the posts, because usually people don't see those. And it saves moderators time, and they wouldn't have to remember how many times this person has been warned, etc.

Discuss.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

It's an okay idea but I think warnings just give the person in question more time to cause more trouble. An "x" amount of days blacklist consequence for their crime works good because it teaches them a lesson. Break the rules, get blacklisted. Why use warnings when you can blacklist right on the spot?

Well I'm not saying take the power to blacklist on the spot away, but for those some things that you really don't see the need for a blacklist, but to make sure the person knows they broke the rules.

And other users don't have to see how many warnings they have, it can only be allowed for administrators and moderators if it seems it would cause some problems.

Nahh, it would become more of a label. For example, They see some one has 19 strikes. Maybe he just has a bad internet connection, or a retarded mouse. He says something that no one agrees with that isn't necessarily wrong. Everyone's going to automatically use his 19 stirkes as an excuse. "Oh no wonder he's so dumb! Look at his strikes!" People will be less tolerant and less forgiving of people with more strikes too. lt just doesn't seem good to me. There's enough jerks here already who cause problems, why give them another reason?

Well Armatik said that it would only be viewable by mods...

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

Most blacklistings are warnings themselves. If you get blacklisted for something you didn't know was wrong, you can use the seven day vacation you get to re-read the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Most ninjas aren't that harsh though, they usually lock/delete or edit your thread/post first.

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

50 warnings? Holy shmokez! About three or so would do it. It would keep track of people who are doing lots of annoying things rather than a single moderator trying to keep track of peoples past actions in their heads.

It's basically for the stupid stuff that happens, like double posting on accident, I still got a warning for that, some people get stupid warnings for bypassing the swear filter, etc.

It's just so that the moderators' jobs are easier, and the users don't have to see how many strikes they have. This is purely for the user and moderators to keep up with the behavior of these certain people who aren't angels, but aren't complete -blam!-s either. If you get one or two warnings, it doesn't make you bad, probably just accidents and stuff.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I've seen this feature before too. I don't think that implementing this feature will hurt this forum at all. I thinks it worth a try.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

A 7 day blacklist is the warning.

Yup. Better than being banned.

I know, but reading my earlier post would've told you that I only mean for this to be for little things, not stuff like spamming. Just a little off-topicness, or a double post, or a bump, just things like that.
