I just got a pretty good idea for the Warthog, Tank, and Wraith. You can use different methods to remove the drivers, right? So how about when you jump on one of the aforementioned vehicles you can press the grenade button and drop whatever type of grenade you have equipped into the vehicle and jump off. If hijacking remains as hard as it is now, this would be rare but absolutely awesome if you could pull it off in campaign or even multiplayer. It would be doubly awesome if white phosphorous or molotov coc|<tails were included; hop on the Wraith, drop one in, and listen to the "WAAARGH!" as the vehicle spins out of control, spewing flames...

What do you think?

The whole screaming elite thing sounds cool and a quite realistic idea of taking out a Wraith tank. I don't mind the WP grenade idea but lets just make sure that we don't start talking about turning Halo 2 into a 'Rainbow Six 3'/'Counterstrike' like game. Halo is Halo an although the idea of one more human grenade seems good, lets not try and think the game as a pointless grenade throwing match.

I like the idea of fun ways to take out tanks, its just lets make sure we don't put too many grenades in the game. Imagine having 3-4 different grenades and having to tally through them till you get to the one you want. Why not throw in a smoke grenade while your there? (joking)

Wouldn't a frag or plasma grenade, carefully placed down into the Wraith seat also make the elite inside scream? With plasma grenades (when they stick) they scream. They could do it in the tank aswell.

This was a feature in campaign mode. Once you've boarded in campaign you can push the driver out, shoot him or grenade him depending on what you'd like to do.

IN Multi-player it was decided that the two step process detracted from the frenetic pace of the game and thus it was replaced by simply taking over the vehicle (or position on the vehicle) when you press the X button.

Do you work for Bungie or something?

If you do, wouldn't that be a violation of your Non-Disclosure Contract (which you probably signed if you're working for Bungie)

this is a little of topic but if you could use grenades and all and stick them in the vehicle dont you think you cal like use your gun or something and whack them out witht the "end" of the gun? like melee them with your gun then go in, and isnt the point of hijacking to take the vehicle? not jump on it throw a grenade in then run away? cuz you just wrecked a ride then and if its nessicary for you to have that vehicle in campaign didnt you just wreck the level?

No, I'm not a bungie employee. I have, however, watched the high resolution version of the Multiplayer Demo and am a diligent reader of Frankie's updates.

Now, there's nothing to say that they might not change things. They still might but as of e3 2004 that was the case. If Shiska and Stosh take a peek, they can verify. They've had the blessed experience of actually playing the multi-player....
