Well, Lately My computer seems to be losing its ability to function well. Takes so much CPU usage just to do simple tasks. Also, my framrate in halo has dropped to an unbelievable level. With what use to run at around 30 FPS at moderately high quality now runs at 18 with every standard at the lowest. The screen rez is 800X600. I've done scans, cleanups, registry fixes... I've completely run out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

NEVER do registry scans, its better if you reinstall windows.
What ''scans,cleanups'' do you use?
Try this one http://www.hitmanpro.nl

EDIT : post your system specs (ram cpu gpu mobo etc)

I heard Windows doesn't like 150+gb hard drives. Or was it 250? Meh. Anyway, defrag, 5+ virus scanners, (they never get em all), scan disk, then reboot. And if it still don't work, format it's ass.

Holy jeez Imp!

Your PC rocks! My best bet would be to look for any trojans/malware affecting the system. They sometimes can evade simple virus scans. It shouldn't be doing any of that, especially with your specs. A good cleanup and defrag as dalmedya stated would also be nice.

Cheers.

Why wouldn't you clean out the registry? Maybe you just had a bad cleaner, because Abexo has kept my computer running at twice the speed it was 4 months ago.

Try getting a cleaner that only marks things that are safe to remove, so you don't screw anything up. And also be sure to unmark anything for an HP printer, as that often leads to a printer needing the driver reinstalled.

Avira antivir is free, and since I downloaded it 2 weeks ago, it's been killing all sorts of malware that avast, spybot, adaware, a-squared, etc. all missed.

go to command.com, and type DEL *.*

J/K. Dont bother with those regestry cleaners, just do some spyware, virus, and other scans, if the problem persists, are you sure something in you case didnt go wrong? Is your video card overheating? Re-install ONLY as a last resort.

Integrated graphics, I think..My PC has that...so I will need to buy a Geforce 7900GS when I want to play Crysis. How good does Halo PC look with Integrated graphics? 6150LE?

I'd tell you if I removed my video card and just used the integrated graphics that came with this pc, which is exactly the 6150LE, but integrated graphics are usually not very pretty.

So Int graphics suck with Halo PC? Damnit...I was hoping I could play Halo, my favorite game of all time, until I saved up $300 for a 7900GS and a 630W power supply...

630W? wow. that's a lot.

Integrated sucks, until I got my 7800GT, BG was pasty and brown. All MCs were white, and explosions, plasma, and fire did not show up.

Would it particularly be wrong for me to gloat when I say I have a 680W PSU?

Dangit. Is there any way to find the dimensions of my PSU so I could buy one that's identical in size (Or are they all identical in size?). I'll be getting a 7900GT for $200 (Comes with HL2 free) and This Coolmaster 600W PSU for $80.

Er- Sorry to interrupt your tech discussion, but basically I should spam my computer with every virus scanner out there and scan until i find something, then Defragment? Fun... I did a boot scan with Avast! and it found a virus. Unfortunately, I didn't look at where it came from and the scan log doesn't show it.

The problem still persists so, I'm not sure what it is. Anybody have an idea that hasn't been repeated?

For future Reference, I use Spybot, AdAware, Avast!, Ccleaner andRegistry Mechanic. Please read before posting, it helps make the world go 'round.

You still haven't told us your video card. I'd like to know why you're system has 2GB of RAM, a 400GB HD, a dual core AMD Athlon 64 4600+ and only run Halo at 800x600 and only got 30 FPS to call it a "moderate" amount of FPS. This could be a simple problem of you having an nVidia card.

Just make sure you don't use any of the popular retail versions. I had Norton's (P.O.S), and now I have McAfee (Even more of a P.O.S). Both are completely useless. However, If you don't mind shelling out some cash online, use TrendMicro. Works a treat, but you have to pay to have the nasty stuff removed. Of course, half the trouble with viruses is finding the damn things, so...
