I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I know this sounds stupid, but doesn't only GS betray you? Or is it just a misprint, like the description of AOTCR (Defend the control room against waves of covanent attackers).

Well, you're really the one betraying GS by not activating the ring. Maybe it's also referring to that.

But GS is tricking you into thinking that it is the best thing to do.

It's a good thing MC didn't do it or else there would be no Halo 2.

Ok, I thought I was the only idiot who couldn't figure it out, but I guess nobody else gets it too. BTW I think it would be cool if the MC fired a Halo in H2 to kill the covies.

I think you guys just answered your own question. MC betrays GS and GS betrays MC. which makes Two Betrayals

One of my friends said something about Dr. Halsey and her "unfinished buisness." Is that possible?

P.S. I also most likely said some stuff wrong because I haven't read the books.

uh.... how does that have any relation to the topic?
anyway, yeah, it's eaither the betrayal of MC, by GS, and visa versa, or GS betrayed MC by lying , and then he decides to kill him, thud betraying him again.

btw, i think that MC betrayed GS first, unintentualy, by putting cortona in the computer

How could it have been a betrayal when The Chief hadn't agreed with 343? Besides the fact that MC wasn't aware of 343 GS's presence on Halo when he puts Cortana into the Control Panel, he never actually agrees whith 343 even after he does meet him. On top of that, 343 doesn't betray MC either as he isn't aware that The Chief didn't understand the containment protocol. You can't betray someone if you don't have a deal, or trust for that matter. When it boils down to it they were both doing their job, and it was more of a misunderstanding then anything else.

i think it's because the MC is betrayed by 343 GS and the sentinels.

I was under the impression that GS and Keyes both betrayed MC (though Keyes didn't really have a choice in the matter...)

  • 10.24.2004 7:53 PM PDT

Actually, it is implied that at lest one of the betrayals occured well before anyone was ever even aware of Halo's existence, much less on it. Go watch the cutscene at the begining of Two Betrayals a few times, paying close attention to every single word and know that in a Bungie game, no piece of dialogue is without meaning.

[color=lime]***INCOMING MESSAGE FROM DURANDAL***

Greetings. You're asking yourself: Is this a trap or just
a dead end?

You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim
higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is
my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a
shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

Notably Unstable,
Durandal

P.S. If things around here aren't working, it's because I'm
laughing so hard.

Guilty thought we knew about what Halo could do, we are the "reclaimer"! reading the books helps with this explenation.
We are betraying him in his mind because "why hesitate to do what we have already done"
But he betrays you by sicking the sentinals on you!

the reason is that guilty betrays the master chief by not telling the master chief the purpose of the ring almost causeing you to destroy your spiecies whereas the master chief betrays cortana and all of the other human race by helpig guilty activate the ring.

Well, I had a huge report detailing the clear indication that the monitor makes at you being a Forerunner being, and this being the cause for his betrayal, and confusion at your own. But since my internet wiring is about to rot due to adverse weather conditions, you all will be spared my deep and far too intellectual rambling. To me, Halo is not a game, it's a way of life, and you folks will see that soon.

You got off lucky this time, but next time....next time.

I actually read a pretty nice spec awhile back about being another betrayal that you never know about. I clearly remember someone at bungie confirming that there is someone on Halo that Master Chief doesn't know is there. I think we learn about the second betrayal in Halo 2.

Guilty Spark says that he told you the purpose of Halo and all of that stuff. I guess he told you it while you were fighitng wave after wave of flood, expecting you to listen to his nonsense.
