There are 23 moderators. They should be able to get every piece of spam/off topic material. If they can't they should hire more qualified members to be moderators.

Correction! There are 18, and one of them hasn't been on for quite a while. And they all do have lives, so they do in fact have to eat, and sleep, and work, and go to school, and spend time with their families.

They can't catch everything. At least not at every single moment. Sometimes they need some time to actually get around to the forum and finding the spam.

I know that they are not payed, perhaps "hired" was not the correct word to choose, but even if they are not payed they should still do a good job at getting all the spam. You can't depend on absolutely everyone on bungie.net to let spam threads die.

EDIT: Mabian, are all the members in HFCS not moderators? HFCS Members.

The mods are most definitely not too lenient.

Just because they got most of the obvious stuff doesn't mean that they are getting everything that goes against the group's TOS. They should be locking everything off topic.

Yes and no. On some points, the mods are incredibly strict. IE: N-Word of the Week Awards. But on others, they don't really give the bat of an eye.

I think there's just too many of the smaller ones to deal with. I mean, consider how many times every hour someone posts a Halo 2-related topic in the Undergrouns, or something minute like that. There's just too much of that. They'll do something about it if they see it, but they're not too insistant on it, at least of what I've observed.

I think before you join Bungie, there should be a grammar and spelling check, honestly. You take a small test, and if you get like a 70% or an 80% or higher, you can join. That could limit the "ZOMG HLAO WARS!!11!1!!1" threads.

I'm not hugely behind that idea, it was more of a joke, but still, it's a good idea.

But you can't deny that topics about your microphone in a strictly Halo 2 related thread is off topic.

PS, But its up to THEM not YOU to decide what is off topic. Your perception may not be the same as their. And keep in mind that each mod reads the rules they way they wish too.

Wtf...

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

So if you're making a joke that you know that only you will find funny, why not say it to yourself verbally, and take your damned hands on the keyboard?

I would understand that if you used TWO hands to type as opposed to your usual "one hand on the keys the other on my joystick" technique.

Easy you two! Rant, that and what you said after this was totally uncalled for, and duffman, you should not have encouraged him.

I don't think we're too lenient; I do what I can. I do, however, think that the forums would benefit from a "crackdown" on the rules, particularly the "Play Nice" rule.

Oh sure, not every thread is locked. Actually, that's one of the cases for the fact that there aren't always enough moderators.

If a thread is about to die, is there a point to locking it? Does every thread need to be locked?

And no, not every member of HFCS is a moderator. Not even everyone with a moderator rank is a moderator in HFCS.

Huh.... From HFCS
Super secret hideout for bungie.net forum moderators. Don't even try to join. You will be smited.

What's so good about being in HFCS then?

'Tis a mythical place where unicorns play, and candy is never out of reach. In other words, it is perfection.

They could change that, but then they'd have to do work. Basically it is, in theory, a place where the moderators and the Bungie employees (mostly the B.net employees) discuss what they should do about moderating...and other stuff.

I think you are all mixing up the terms "Forum Ninja" and "Moderator". Only moderators are in HFCS, but not all are Forum Ninjas. A moderator is anyone who has partial control of the website. Any form of an administrator. A Forum Ninja is a subgenre of a moderator.

A place where the beer flows like wine. A place where the women flock like the Salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin about a little place called HFCS.

Ah. The thing is, I don't exactly got one of those. (Not joking.)

The original post is slightly flamitory. Lock it.

Is that what you want?

If they did it would show that they are having less tolerance for spam, so yes, as long as this made moderators have less tolerance for spam, that would make me happy. Although I do not want moderators to lock this because of it being slightly "flamitory" and leave the rest of the off topic posts up. I am trying to make a point.
