If we had members that were actually helpful and PM us rather than just complain, things would go much better.

The PM idea has its flaws. Sure, kd5shw's ModWatch site is helpful, but it doesn't ensure that the person in question will be able to receive your message, it just shows who signed on last, and who's most likely to be on to get your PM. The Google Talk IM program is rarely used by anyone other than Recon and Ghandi, and that's another means gone.

PMing is the best solution at this point in time (if you don't see anybody on google talk or MSN). PM the person you think is on and then wait a few minutes. If that person doesn't do anything, PM the next person that you think might be on. Repeat as necessary until the problem is remedied. If you don't go through this process, it is obvious you don't care enough about it and then there is (once again) no reason to complain.

Until there is a handy button that PMs the moderator(s) that are currently on, this is your only option. And I've told you when I'm on, so don't bother PMing me outside that time because I will not be able to do anything until I log in the next day.

What about a flag button, right next to bookmark/new topic, then it would give you a confirmation (Do you really want to do this) box, and when it gets pushed by any member it sends out a PM to all online mods alerting them of a topic that should be locked.

you need air dude.............

As many people and Mods have said before, just PM. Unless you really want to become a mod robot and monitor this forum for at least 8 hours then i think your kidding yourself. Everyone has a life, i got my GCSE exams in like 6 months and it decides what colleage i go to, what job i can get etc. Now if you really think that watching a forum all day is more worth while then doing your GCSE's then you sir are an idiot.

When did I say that...? All I am saying is that the mods seem to miss a fair bit of off topic posts.

Not trying to make this personal, but some WERE a tad aggressive in the past. I'd rather see b.net a shade too "loosy-goosy" than the alternative.

I like to Rollick

If I made a generalization based off of one mod, I would say the mods are grossly over-aggressive.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Yes I can. Playing Halo 2 involves using voice chat, and if your mic doesn't work, a logical course of action is to ask other Halo 2 players if they've had that problem and what they did to solve it.

Deciding on what is "on-topic" is VERY subjective. They have to be careful not to be too hard headed about that particular rule, because otherwise everything ends up in the Flood. As such, they get to decide for themselves what is on topic, not you. This is because they have a better overall picture of the rules and expectations about posting from me, and because they were specifically chosen because we felt they were competent to make those decisions.

They are supposed to be thoughtful enforcers, not bots. Well, except for Shishka. Somebody has to stand between you guys and the wrath that I'd bring down on rule breakers. (If you think he's mean when you break a rule, you haven't dealt with me).

But you can't deny that topics about your microphone in a strictly Halo 2 related thread is off topic.

Yeah, where is that Shishka guy? I miss his 'In yo face'/'My man aint yo baby's daddy' presence.

They do a good job and I thank each one for their time and commitment to this site. Its quite the contradiction when you see one thread titled 'Mods too leniant?' and another called 'Should all locked threads have an explanation?'. Quite the double-edged sword.

when I read the first post I wasnt suure, then when i saw rant wasnt banned for what he said, i think the OP is correct.

He was banned, but now he's back.

Of course, I could crack down and ban everyone who posted in this topic... but you wouldn't like that either, would you?
