Hey, i have about $100 bucks to spend on a PSU and i have a mobo that seems to hate antec PSU's. Maybe one of you know my issue, its the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. I would prefer an Antec, but im not sure. Any recommendations? If someone wants to trade, i have an Antec NEOHE 550 w/ modular cabling. But if not, can someone point me in the direction of a 500-550w psu that is compatible with my mobo under $100 and is reliable? I need to power an ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe, an AMD athlon 64 4000+, 2 gigs of DDR400 RAM, Geforce 7600GT, and 1 hdd and a DVD drive. Sorry to sound like a n00b, i am just worried i will buy something that wont work AGAIN. Thanks.

Edit: I was thinking about getting this.

ALSO, I NEED SLI SUPPORT!!!!!! Thanks, that will be all.

Maw

I looked at the one your thinking about, it looks good to me, although the review wasn't very good:

Cons: Blew up on first run, it literally blew up, thought my whole computer was in flames. I saw sparks coming out of it and smoke followed. Had Antec before for years not a problem, replaced this one with different model Antec and so far so good. Really stay away from this one, hard to believe that they conducted a quality control test on it before it shipped out of the factory.

I can't think of any good power supply, just wait for a competent owner.

I have the thermaltake 500W TTR or something like that. It was on frontpage of Newegg for a while. Only complaint is that it's non-modular.

I really dont care if its not modular, i have the cooler master ammo 533 and it dosent have a side panel window, so thats not an issue. But that cooler master 600w is looking very interesting. Gimme a bit to look up some reviews. Thanks.

-blam!- the Coolmaster is PCI-e so I can't get it if I get my 7900GT...which is also PCI-e..I only have one PCI-e slot in my comp.

That PSU says PCIe because it can power a PCIe card if needed. It would plug into the card itself, not the Mobo. Therefore your fine.

That's what I got for $100. I will warn you though; the first one I ordered came DOA. I sent it back and Newegg sent me another one for free without paying for anything else, including shipping and handling, and then that one worked. Works like a beauty, but the only complaint I have is that it doesn't align up with my case's screws. Electric tape fixed that. ;) Works like a charm.

Better watch that tape, Aga, lest it melts. Melted electric tape = stinky.

No wonder it came DOA, there is a reason why it's called asspire. I have an OCZ 520 watt SLI PSU that works like a charm with that motherboard.

Yeah, one DOA and another free one made be really consider the morallity of choosing between 160W less or to go with something that will support Crossfiring.

I also got it last year and you can get a 700 watt for cheaper than I paid for mine... I mentioned the OCZ because they are reliable and very highly praised. And for the record, mine suports crossfiring(it's just two pci-e power connectors).

Show me a 700W PSU for $100. The lowest you'll find one is for $150, and for 20 more wattage is just a waste to be honest. The PSU I got was a steal and pumps out all the power I will need for many years to come.

Once again, yes, there is a risk of it coming on DOA, but if you're willing to take that risk, mainly because they'll send you another one free of any charges if it is DOA, I would say take the chance.

Thanks for all your help, but i have decided to go with this. It is right in my price range, looks good (all black) and its 600w. I know thats a reliable company, so thats mty decision. The reason i didnt choose that Antec/apevia PSU is because i have a case with no side panel window, so all that flashyness is pointless, and i have had issues with aspire/apevia PSU's before. Thanks for all your help. I am still open to suggestions, though.

EDIT: Oops, wrong profile. XD
