Look... I have to delete everything off of my hard drive. And I lost my Halo box. So does anyone know if that "servive number" that is shown when the auto run setup comes up is the same thing? Because I don't know what the number is.

Thanks...

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

If you mean the Key, then yes, it is the same one, and if you meant the Key, then it is behind the CD slidy thingy for storing the CD.

Yes I mean the Key that is required to install the game. That is the same thing as the "serviece number"? Because if it is... then I am a happy camper. :/

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Why do you have to delete everything on your hard drive?

Anyway, if you're referring the MS product number, they're different. You should have written it down or committed it to memory, because you can only recall it when you install the game. If you lost your key, I do not know what to tell you. People should keep it written down somewhere or memorized.

Or you could always contact Microsoft and demand a new one.

there is a little program that will extract your key from the registry.

you can use this program. it takes alot of data from your computer and makes a report. This includes cd-keys *wink*.

PC version: CD key is on CD case.
Mac version: CD key is inside box.
Just look for the fluorescent orange thing.

No, that is the PHONE NUMBER for Micro$oft technical support.
CD key = 25 digits, Phone No. = ... I dunno, but not 25.

Since halo is no longer installed, that's a problem. There's really no way for us to know what your key was.

Umm, how do you plan on recovering the CD Key when the registry entry no longer exists, as in after you delete/reformat your hard drive. You aren't making much sense. First you said you had to delete everything off your hard drive, then you said you didn't but you were getting a new computer? Which is it? Are you putting this deleted/reformatted hard drive in the new computer? or are you trying to recover the CD Key from a a registry entry that never existed because you can't install Halo on the new computer because you don't have the CD Key in the first place?
