You know the drill, got inactive members, have an important announcement, want everyone to know about it. It's hard to individually PM each and every member. If there was a "PM all members" button, it would make life so much easier.

Thoughts? Comments?

yeah! And you wouldn've have to worry about people using this to spam people, because if they did abuse this to spam people, they'd lose their group (aka the people would probably leave if the the leader of the group was spamming them).

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

This is why we have the Classifieds threads. Still, the P.M all members button is a good idea for public announcements. What would also be a good idea is the P.M all members queue button for the moderators.

Or maybe have a check-box next to your group members names and a button that says 'Message Selected'. Wow, an actual good idea from the Septegon. : P

I'd love that feature.

That would be an awesome feature, especially because it sucks messaging members of ODST Recon....all 1,000 of them.

  • 11.09.2006 4:13 PM PDT

I believe that this would be a good idea, but only to be implemented for group founders along with the colored text for the founders. Only one person per group should have this ability, IMO. I've heard this proposed before too, to no avail.

Not only would it cease many hardships for admins, it would be perfect for spam! Also, why not include a "Ban All Users" button to help conquerers?

(sorry, I just had to say that.)

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

No.

Overzealous groups like MBT, Popular Fusion, and ODST Recon would PM their members like there was no tomorrow. MBT especially, since they have a little...'history', to say the least here.

OMG
Master Chief w/o his Helmet!

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

Sounds good to me. Hey if anyone abuses it you can always block them or leave the group.

Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

I don't see how much it would help. If someone has time to be active in your group, but doesn't want to be, they probably aren't going to care when you send them a PM telling them about something going on in your group.

So then you're left with the members who do care, and at that point you can just make a news post or a forum post, and everyone would notice it just as well.

I suppose you could use it to remind people to be active, so that the inactive people will leave, but since numbers make the group, no one is going to want that to happen.

Sounds like a fine idea to me. I hope this comes to fruition. But, I doubt we'll ever have this feature. If the chapters were intended to be used in this way, they would probably already have this feature.

There should be a limit on how often the feature can be used. I do agree that it could be overused. No one wants their inbox clogged with these kinds of messages.

The best of the Best

Why would they want to put a limit on it? It wouldn't be like sending 2000 PMs to each person, one each per person... You couldn't really over use it, it would be the exact same as PMing every member. Your all talking about it like it would send sooooo many PMs to each member, it wouldn't.

I personaly like this idea alot.

I LOVE this idea...ever time its been suggested. Its such a hassle to try and PM over 2000 people. Also I'd love to see a search thing for the members list but that is a seperate idea.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

The thing is, it would allow groups to send many more mass PMs, simply because it is easier to do. A group could send out a mass PM everyday, if they wanted to, with this. But I don't see that as being much of a problem. If a group did decide to abuse it, I think that most members would simply decide to leave.

I guess that my stance on the issuse would be that I don't really care. I don't see all that many benefits of mass PMing. If a member doesn't check your group often enough to see a news announcement or a new sticky, then I doubt that getting a message will do anything, other than maybe making them decide to just leave. But I don't really see all that many cons, either. The only thing in my mind would be whether or not it would be too much effort for the web team to implement, for a feature that really is not needed, in my opinion.

Keep in mind guys that this is a fanclub, not really your own forum per se. If you really need all these features, just make a forum on invisionfree.com, or whichever site you choose, because Bungie.net wasn't designed for all these features (to my knowledge at least). If you really want something to become of your group, you should be moving onto a real website anyway, because nothing will happen with it here.

Another ncie feature would be to be able to PM all of a certain rank, or get a list of group members where you can check and uncheck who you want to send the PM to.

Good idea. Of course this is Bungie's website and they have ultimate control over the features. However, this is the Septagon and I enjoy the threads on new ideas.
