For some reason i have a funny feeling that the boys from microsoft are going to charge us a fee for vista users to run live for Halo 2....If so i will not even bother to buy H2, but if not cool, i guess that means i get to play aganist xbox players straight from my PC? RIGHT? Anyways i hate paying fees, i pay enough as it is. Why should I? IF they are going make us play halo 2 on windows vista, which costs aound 200 and up and the game i guess around 50 or up why make us pay a subscription fee? You think they would make enough money already considering halo 3, vista, and H2V will come out in the same year 2007. I think the rest is just coorprate greed and nothing else. I dont think it would be fair to do that.

By the way i am not sure if they are or not going to charge us a subscription fee to use live, i am just expressing what i feel about if they did.

your thoughts please.

The few, the proud, the leet.

That's why you play on dedicated servers.....which are better to begin with.....

What he meant that fees are a really dumb idea for PC shooters. Fees are good ideas for MMORPGs.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

MMORPGs? *spits* I hate them! RPG's are better single player by about 1million times, in my opinion anyway. Every MMORPG i try is just totally -blam-ing awful. But to PAY FOR THEM AS WELL? Never. Microsoft won't make us pay for playing H2V online.

Well, Live Anywhere does sound like a very neat idea, but having to pay for it...

PC Gamers already pay enough, what with the enormous cost of incremental upgrades.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

it should be completely optional...

I probably won't pay to play Halo2V online, if it is mandatory, I'll pass.

It's enough that we are expected to upgrade our OS for this game.

edit: In the FAQ, it states Bungie will run dedicated servers for H2V, so as long as we don't have to pay some arbitrary "Live" monthly fee, I'm in.

XBL costs because of the central network and management. H2V shouldn't cost us anything to play, as we are the ones paying and hosting the severs...

no one said that there would be fees... we bought the game... we pay for our own internet... and we don't play against xbox players

I'm not gonna care if, by some means, you can play H2 against other actual.

I believe it should be optional/free... I play several multiplayer games.. which means, I'm not going to be playing Halo 2 all the time...
If I want the "Live" servis to have a buddy list, have match making etc. I'll pay for it..
But if I want to find my own game through the game's browser, and that's it, I don't think I should have to pay for it.

Personally, I don't think we should have to pay to play online. If Microsoft is going to make us upgrade to Window's Vista ($100+), pay for the game, and on top of that, pay a monthly fee, then that's just bull. The worst thing is, we have to buy Window's Vista for Halo 2, that won't include any DX10.

I don't think we should have to pay... but if we do, I could only hope for my first suggestion.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

yea im pretty sure they're are going to charge us. even though weve spent $1500+ on a machine and the software so we can even run the game.

Microsoft can't charge you for online play, but they can charge you for live. So, if it does cost money, I just won't use live.

Yep. In an issue like this, putting a "no comment" or "to be determined" is basically the same thing as saying "yes".

If there was no fee, they would have had it in lights.

What I would advocate is a basic MP serice that is FREE (for H2 Vista) in addition to live anywhere.
