You're all equal at the moment. That's good, because that's exactly what you should be. No one who's a member at the moment has done anything that would thrust them higher than all the other members (except perhaps the retired mods; I always wanted to see a custom title for them).

But... well okay, using that reasoning, we haven't done anything much. But we've been chosen to moderate the forums, and if one would be looking for a moderator to PM, they could look for the:
1. Custom avatar.
2. Custom title.
3. White text.

Because, while on this site we are on a slightly higher podium than the members, we should be spotted easily. Just how policemen walk around in a police uniform, or drive a police car. It's easy identification for the general public.

You're not allowed to wear a police uniform and drive a police car, are you?

(uh, maybe you are, I don't know if there's a law against it. There should be)

So yeah.

There is in NZ at any rate.

Anyway, I like it that there aren't colours on B.net, I hate looking round on the HIH forums... it's impossible. If you want to make something in your post stand out, just use the maark up we have atm.

Okay, what is elitism?

ln my opinion, there shouldn't be join dates or posts counts under your avatar for the exact reasons you guys already said. People would just post random crap to get higher post counts, and people with older join dates would act all cocky just because they joined a while ago. When someone says something they don't agree with, even if it is legit, an older member might say something like "Oh well no wonder he's such an idiot... look when he joined!" which is a shame because you'd think older members would have more common sence then that. l haven't even been here a month, and l consider myself a valuable member to these forums and l try to contribute everything l can in a positive attitude and l conduct myself pretty well.

And colors would only really annoy people. l'd just get a head ache and wind up leaving. l'm sure there'd be more then a few people who would insist on writing every sentence in a different color or something like that. Once, some one wrote [url] and [url/] in every one of his posts just to look like a moderator. When you clicked it, it didn't link anywhere!

l love this forum. Here, and The Underground are the only places l can really have an intelligent convorsation. l love you guys. Well, not really - but you're cool. =D

anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

i'd say that signatures should be a lot smaller, large ones make the boards messy. you may as well remove the "last post date" too as its not very useful at all. whilst your at it, remove "member" as the vast proportion of the population is such, and mods / staff stand out anyway.

leave it with; name, avatar and short signature.

im all for minimalism :)

How about every one can put their own avatar like you mods. But if someone puts a offensive, nudity and violent avatar you can delete them.

Because within 5 minutes probably dozens of people would upload a pic of their own ass. And there's no way the mods would catch them all.

I also don't think the elitism is near as prevelant on other sites as it is here due to the simple fact that this is a video game fan site and the way people play games is what can influence the elitism. That is not to say that it is non-existant on other sites. I think Bungie just takes a tougher stance against it, more than others.

As what should be common knowledge, if you really want to stand above the crowd, the best way to do it is with your words. I will take the thoughts of a member more seriously and have a reason to reply if what they typed is coherent and not strife with elementary errors of the type-written English language while getting across legitimate points. I guess you COULD consider a form of elitism, but one that dignifies the writer without demeaning others. Or even possibly professionalism.

Enough with the forced big words, Ops. You make my head hurt.
Why not have themes? Blue is good, but it gets a bit boring.
Colours I'd like to see: (zomg Colours is misspelled, according to FF)
Jackal-blood Purple (not actually called that, just that exact shade).
Spec-ops Grey.
Explosion Orange (probably not a popular one).
MJOLNIR Green.
Needler Pink.
